And could you elaborate the differences between a fender rhodes and a "just a straight up" rhodes? I'm particularly interested in technical differences.
In 1975. they dropped the "fender" from "fender rhodes" because of marketing reasons. It made no difference in the mechanics of Mark I, nor later Mark II, except for the back nameplate ( which obviously got changed to "Rhodes" instead of "Fender Rhodes" )
@ivanpela not a big difference. I'm just pointing out a distinction which is commonly omitted when referring to a rhodes. Most of the changes to the mark I model came in 1977; I'm not sure when your keyboard was made.
What effects were you using on the rhodes sound? That is amazing on that 9th chord in the verse. It almost brings me to tears. I can't believe I've played piano so long and never really been introduced to the Rhodes. Also what model is that?
It's a 1980 Mark II, stage piano. The are no effects on the recording, I just recorded what could be heard in the air. Rhodes -> amp, that's it. It's a beautiful instrument, it brings the best out of my playing every time I sit at it.
I'd love an Mp3 version of this on my ipod....Amazing! Makes me miss my old Rhodes....had to sell it after my wife left....The sound is amazing...the recording was great, but I know what you mean when you say The recording does not do it justice...the stereo sound of the rhodes bouncing back and forth in a room kills me every time.....Love It man!
Nah, I recorded this with a camera, so the whole bottom range is missing, obviously, you can only hear the mid and top range, and the bottom range is muddy. But the musical idea is recorded and transmitted :) As for stereo, I don't have a suitcase rhodes, this is a stage, so no panning effect here.
@ivanpela Yeah they don't sell stuff like this....it's ur soul, nice improv....And I hear everything....I know how it suppose to sound with the bottom....that said, the recording still was great....wish I had you in my studio...would be a soulful jam...Take care my friend! BTW ...Mine was a stage II ....and I miss the growl....
Yes I am and yes it was! I was searching for one browsing all the adds known to me (both internet and paper issues) until I found one. And it appeared to be in crappy condition for the money owner asked for. So I searched for another 2 months, until eventually I found one. I drove 150km to get it. I restored it, retolexed it in red, made a custom preamp. It's priceless for me now.
But considering recent adds it isn't so hard to find one, it's hard to find one for reasonable money.
how much do I have to pay to have a thing like this? I want to play keyes so much, and I love the rhodes sound.

It's a 1980 Mark II Stage. This recording really doesn't do justice to the sound it makes. It's a wonderful instrument.

Are you really in Croatia? If so, was it difficult to get a Fender Rhodes?
