well I´ll be damned, but congratulations! Now you can say empire ripped you off hahaha. Just another question (hope you don´t mind), but is the body kit wood?
Also...I´ll be going to District 10 in the Super6 (UK) and trying out your saboted paintball rounds for when I need to really hit a foot sticking out or sth...will keep you posted on how that worked!
Yep, carved it and then layered it with 4 oz. fiberglass cloth/epoxy resin.
Couple of things about the sabots. There are two major forces acting on a paintball's flight trajectory. One is spin-induced boundary layer tripping. The other is seam-induced boundary layer tripping. They are usually approximately equal. Saboting the ball eliminates the spin-induced effects. Using high-grade paint minimizes the second. Saboting mid or low grade paint won't net good results......cont.^^^
as most poor grade paint will have large seams and therefore very large seam-induced boundary layer tripping.
You'll only get minimal shot spread using high-end paint like Marbs, Evil, DXS Gold etc. If your field is using lower grades of paint, saboting may be futile.
@Soger91 Well, it seems that paint varies by batch and age. A good rule of thumb is that if you can feel a raised seam when you run a finger over the ball, it's not going to perform well. I wrote a thread on Milsimempire a while back, it has some useful info in it. Google "Milsim Empire What makes a good paintball good?"
@rntlee One more thing I forgot to add about saboting. You must use an unported barrel with the sabots. Any porting can catch the patch enough to cause the ball to partially eject from the patch and it will exit the barrel with imparted spin.
@rntlee I´m using a freak back with a mini freak tip. Go have a look in ukscenario.co.uk, in the gallery section, TM7. The mini freak tip is about 1mm in length! Also, using the maverick pump with its original barrel, so I´ll be ok with porting :D
One more question, what are you using to sabot? Just normal kitchen roll? Or are you using cigarrette paper?
