  • I wonder what a Rock hudson and Doris Day Baby would look like?

  • Damn he was beautiful

  • And their friendship in real life lasted till the end which somehow makes this movie so classy.

  • LOL, my gay friend was so happy when I told him that Rock was gay. "Oh my god... thank you so much!" Rock was handsome. Great actor too!

  • Awww, she calls it vicious and sick! OY!

  • Wow what a movie kiss. I want to snog Rock Hudson!

  • A gay man pretending to be a straight man pretending to be a gay man... love it! Wonder if audiences of the day picked up on that irony? Kind of like the moment in "Bringing Up Baby" where Cary Grant (clad in a nightie) explains himself by saying he'd just "gone gay all of a sudden"!

  • I love Rock Hudson but he is doing a truly awful Texan accent!

  • Best movie kiss...ever!!!

  • tall, dark, and handsome! if only... :/

  • homophobic jerks

  • Doris and Rock were such a great screen couple!

  • This is better than any movie of 2011!!!!!!

  • nothing on television is by mistake. who put this scene in the movie knew about rock hudson. it was an inside joke! the problem is that for those who do not know and are acting kissing scenes it is repulsive to find out the truth later on. it is no one's business nor does it make him a worse actor. it is just somet hings are taken for granted and expected from male female relationship.

  • Man, I fucking love Rock Hudson. He's so awesome! And I love this movie, we have it at home and break it out every now and again. This scene is classic, Rock was just such a badass. Manliest man that ever lived. Always makes me think of the Onion: "Does this shirt make me look gay?" "Yeah, but like Rock Hudson gay, not Freddie Mercury gay." Never gets old!

    RIP Rock!

  • Oops, I meant Brando

  • Rock Hudson ... now that man was jaw-dropping gorgeous -- and also very funny and talented. Rock Hudson, Gregory Peck and Marlon Brandon *gasp, swoon, faint*

  • He was dishy all the same - lovely man and soooooooo damn sexy - who cares what his preference was!

  • To all the 'why did we need to know' or 'why was it important' if Rock was gay. Are some hets still needing to toss that old line & issue around? Following that logic should result in every het star not sharing marriage, BF/GF, info because it is equally 'not relevant.' Second point: If you are a film buff - the fact that Rock was gay is interesting - as the clip shows. It's fascinating and ironic and funny that the HollyWood Machine & Rock 'played with' the issue is so many of his films.

  • Doris D and Rock H had some serious chemistry onscreen... :-)

  • he was a great actor it did not matter if he was gay he was a great actor a great man an very handsome

  • Cool -- at about 3:50 seconds, just after the big kiss notice the guitar player standing behind the singer..... playing a very very rare 1961 Danelectro sunburst Guitarlin !!!

  • @legalwhizzard the movie was made in 1959

  • @legalwhizzard it's actually a dan electro "bass" guitar......was it called the "long horn"?

  • "Will you excuse me? I'd better go to the powder moon ... I mean, room". Hilarious line.

  • Ok, i hate to be crude but i do not care where his thing has been i would marry that and take it to bed.

He is sexy and i just LOVE LOVE LOVE Doris Day, i have a huge poster of her from when she played Calamity

  • Love this dialing... it's the part I recite from the movie all the time!

    "worse, whatdoyamean worse?!!"

  • POOR ROCK THIS MUST HAVE KILLED HIM TO PLAY THIS . HOLLYWOOD WAS SO F*&^$% UP AT THE TIME . IT STILL IS . AND ROCK HUDSON WAS GAY FACT!!!

  • hahah Rex don't you find me attractive??...... well why haven't you ever.......

  • I klove dorris and rock hudson together they have such great chemistry onscreen together and are both good looking

  • I wonder what some Doris Day and Rock Hudson Kids would have been like. They were SO Gorgeous in this movie

  • Gay actor pretending to be a straight actor playing a straight man pretending to be a gay man trying to be a straight man in order to get the girl. Great!!!

  • @cinecromancer Do you love it? Rock must have laughed his damn head off making this movie! (Bet it gave Ross Hunter giggle fits, too!) :-)

  • if you havent seen this movie, what you dont know is that rock hudson is playing two guys in this movie. brad allen (the bad guy) and rex stetson (the good guy). shes never met brad allen, so she doesnt have a clue =) this is a great movie.

  • Damn! He's tall...

  • He was fantastic, sexy, charming.I loved his dramas but he was fantastic in comedies. This and Come September my faves. The man was georgous too.

  • He was fantastic, sexy, charming.I loved his dramas but he was fantastic in comedies. This and Come September my faves. The man was georgous too.

  • This guy should have won an Oscar!

    Go Rock...we love you.

  • @flenif2247 Especially for "Giant"

  • hudson was gay, who cares! leave him alone

  • doris and rock stayed great friends up until the day he died. she was very supportive to him through his illness .i think that the respect and platonic love they had for one another made the chemistry they had on the screen legendary.

  • what a hell of a story this film is

  • wish i get direct answers from my man every day ...

  • This is Art in it's highest form, in my eyes.

I wish they wouldn't associate it with anything negative. It's honesty. (:

  • u r sic!

  • she's the best!

  • I love her!

    {lol}

  • My mother took me to every movie he made....hmmmmm

  • hmmm...well said

  • Amereican culture in the late 1960's got a bad case of "relavent-itis". The Vietnam war generation started dissing romantic comedies like this. Not that that war wasn't a serious issue--but the whole critical emphasis was MASH and The Graduate and Hair and Love Story. Light humor was on the ropes. Hopefully we've outgrown that nonsense and can appreciate any movie for its own merit. I don't know about Doris Day's hairdo--but she was a babe! Fweet!

  • Rock & Doris had great chemistry together...What's not to like....

  • FooFoo sees Red bolsters but NO pillows! where is the starring pillow? Rock Hudson is indubitably attractive.

  • He was very tall six foot six inches, he was very handsome, and very good actor. That was Rock Hudson who we miss him very much..

  • Hudson was a strange man, a homosexual who voted Republican.

  • well for one he was in the closet..but for another..in his day the religious right didnt yet control the republican party, and the republicans had a strong libertarian streek...like barry goldwater.

  • This is my all time fave movie! I LOVE IT!

  • I always just stare in disbelief at doris day's hairdos.. I mean, wtf?! Men had great hair in the 50ies. But the women looked as if they were wearing helmets. Great singer, good actress.. but those hairdos make me crazy.

  • WHAT A ACTOR....I MISS HIM....

  • This man was my dream and my ideal in the 50s! Could never have imagined that someone so handsomely masculine could be gay. And I had probably never heard about such .... Remember I saw a very romantic movie with him called "Never say goodbye", very touching and sentimental but he was so beautiful that I almost fainted when looking at him :-). Would have like to see the movie once more.

  • @louisalit You didn't think someone so 'handsomely masculine' could be gay? It's not too late to join the real world you know.

  • @bastardfingers ah ah yes exactly!!!

  • @louisalit really? just read aloud what you said! "Could never have imagined that someone so handsomely masculine could be gay". But knowing he is gay is changed your opinion of him? straight or gay you wouldn't have had a chance with anyway.

  • he's a pig. haha

  • They definitely don't write them like this any more!

  • seu tivesse essa presença eu devora todas as atrizes da època Marilin Monroe Gina Lolobrigida Sofia Loren Dòris Days e muito mais!

  • How Ironic......hahaha!!

  • LOVE IT LOVE IT, Love them, Love Doris, Dean, Elvis

  • I LOVE to watch old movies like these, any of course, with Doris Day! They're so much fun. You can find such funny innuendos and double entrendres!!

  • Rock had big cajones to play this scene in 1959!

  • this is my favourite 50's movie!!!i could never believe hudson was gay....whatever......he and doris were a great couple in movies!!!

  • Who cares if Rock Hudson was gay. He was a great actor and so handsome and a star.

  • You are right, vilmad007!

  • @vilmad007 And the way he flirted with Doris Day (also in other movies) showes he was a great actor ;-)

  • @vilmad007 BRAVO !!!

  • Seems like a great movie, thanks for posting this video!Yes Rock Hudson was gay,but it did not make him any less worthy of a human being.RIP 1925-1985

  • Rock was gay; sorry, orfe.

BTW, another wonderful movie with DD!! Loved it :)

  • Comment removed

  • He was gay and died of aids. He was amazing and beautiful.

  • lol i love this movie xD

  • 2:28 lmfao her face was funny and i dont care if rock was gay or not he was handsome either way and i dont really think he was but idk :\

  • Someone can tell me if its Nina Simone on the piano?

  • its not... is someone named perry blackwell.

  • Hudson was a strange character - a gay man who always voted Republican. Despite going to gay bars and nightclubs he continued to strongly deny he was gay in interviews, long after his movie career had ended.

  • hahaha...I'm cracking up...this is hilarious.a gay and closetet actor who plays a straight philanderer who pretends to be gay.welcome to Absurdistan:-P

  • Doris has to be in the top five of the most beautiful women of all time.

  • She's a cliched blonde. Attractive. Yes. Most beautiful? Only when I'm inebriated.

  • Kinda funny when Rock talks about men who are close to their mothers and collect recipes...don't care what his sexual preference was...too bad he isn't alive today...his fans still love him!!

  • he was like a physical oddity - no man can be that handsome!

  • 3:53 nice Danelectro long horn bass

  • pretty raunchy stuff for 1959 lol

  • hilarious!

  • Happy 83rd birthday Rock Hudson!

  • yeah !

  • Funny, but all I can think of when he kisses her is, "He just ate dip! Ooooh, stinky breath!" He was so handsome, though. I love their movies together!

  • best movie ever

  • They brought out the best in each other. He was a charming and deft comedian around her, and she was a three-dimensional, full-bloodied woman around him. One of the great on-screen couples of all time. Except for the unfortunate "you are sick" retort, the whole scheme is very funny (not to mention effective).

  • Well, considering the fact that Rock Hudson was a homosexual in 'real life,' this isn't surprising!

  • " I better go to the powder moon...I mean room"lol

Doris is so gorgeous and Rock was good looking aswell!...to bad, I coulda turned him, though I was just a twinkle in God's eye back then.

  • I always did think that part was funny. One of my favorite movies by the way.

  • if had anounced he was gay in the 50's and 60's his acting career would have been over,it was the times back then they were way diffirent then they are now

  • yes Rock we know what type of guys you are speaking of!!

  • My fav Rock and Doris movie. Love the part where they first meet.lol

That overzealous son of her client. He had some fast hands. LMAO

  • Its one of my favorite movies :-)

  • This movie is pretty funny, rent it sometime everyone!

  • Aware of the truth, these scenes are indeed very funny and at the same time very poignant for today's viewer...

  • Doris and Rock are Magic together :-)

  • LOL! LOVE Doris Day and Rock Hudson.

Together they put the FUN-NEE in romance.

    Thanks:)!

  • XDDD!!!

I never noticed that! Hilarious. I adore Rock Hudson and Doris Day movies. <3

  • Tony Randall was the Julie Kavner of His Day1

  • He wasn't bisexual at all. He was gay.

  • Inkenyo, why does it bother you so that EVERYONE and thier mothers know that Rock Hudson was gay? You do know that this is 2008 not 1958, there is no need to hide one sexuality.

  • I don't see WHY you found it nessesary to tell the world he's gay. It makes no difference and he was only bi sexual not gay.

  • He was GAY. His marraige was arranged... lol Rock is know as a gay man. Even if he was bi he was still gay, cuz of his desire for MEN.

  • I mentioned it because I enjoy the irony that knowledge added to the scene. Also, as a young gay person, it is nice to see yourself reflected in history. By all accounts Rock was definitely gay, his wife/beard was a lesbian and he had two long-term male partners after they divorced.

  • @inkenyo so... "it makes no difference" yet... "he was only bi sexual not gay" does that somehow make a difference?

  • @hisnameisjuicydave LOL I just thought the same thing reading that comment...

    ;)

  • @hisnameisjuicydave Thank you! It never ceases to amaze me that people who insist it "makes no difference" always seem to be the very ones who have a problem with the subject being discussed. If it truly makes no difference then why can't we say it out loud? (And people--he was GAY, not bi-sexual or bi-curious or bi-coastal or bi-whatever the hell you're going to come up with next to make yourselves feel better.)

  • God, Rock was a dreamboat :)

  • Feigns? HAHA! Calm down, I'm gay too:)

  • Rock's sexuality overshadowed some outstanding acting...watch 'Seconds' to see what I mean!

  • Soo true. I loved the guy and always will. Seconds will shock you!

  • My most favourite film of all...... it has a girl who is cute, smart, has a career & independance and 2 guys a after her.... what else does a girl need? Plus I adore the house keeper. What a character! You can imagine that she was once like the heroine..young and attractive, but she made the wrong choices in life and always regreted it!

  • Rock Hudson and Doris Day actually only made three movies together: "Pillow Talk," "Send Me No Flowers" and "Lover Come Back." It seems as if there were more, maybe because they both made similar films with other co-stars, or maybe because the "Doris Day-Rock Hudson" formula became a whole sub-genre of romantic comedy.

  • Rock Hudson sounds alot lot Lee Van Cleef! I know that was random.. but listen to their voices. lol

  • Rocks voice KILLS Lee Van Cleef.

  • I said ALOT like Lee Van Cleef's they spoke very similar... Rock's voice was a little more husky, but his voice of course we know now wasn't natural, in fact nothing was... well of course his looks were.

  • Good point.

  • wow, that pinky raises high!

  • wait Rock Hudson was gay?

  • I didn't know either!

  • lol, poor oblivious Jonathan at the beginning. I'll never get tired of this movie!

  • he doubled dipped!

  • I was watching for that! I didn't see the double-dip...

  • I love this movie, even though it was made before i was born i just can't get enough of it!! Doris Day and Rock Hudson made a good team on screen.

  • I wonder how hard it was for Rock Hudson to do this scene enforcing homsexual stereotypes.

  • The "difficulty" was probably in direct proportion to the amount of money he was receiving for the film.

  • Up until his tragic death, Rock was one of the happiest men in Hollywood, and unlike some gay people today, he had a great sense of humor. I'm sure he thoroughly enjoyed the irony of the gay switcheroo motif here and in Lover Come Back. Also, he was adored by his female co-stars, even those who knew all about his private life. He and Doris used to laugh so hard making a film together they sometimes had trouble geting through a scene...

  • slobone - thx for the post.

  • I really enjoyed your summary of the movie. You are very observant. It is still one of my favorite movies.

  • powder moon...I love when he gets caught by Tony and the she sings "you lied" and he winks and tips her.

  • "You lied....(you dog)..and you'll be sorry!" "You lied..(you hound)...and that's not fair!" wasn't that great?! one of the best scenes in the movie!

  • amazing , we need such good clips about rock hudson he was a great handsome actor, please put more clips movies about that great actor he will be always in our heart

  • amazing , we need such good clips about rock husdon he was a great handsome actor
