OMG! Thanks so much for posting this! I had forgotten all about this one! I remember I begged my mom to take me to sears when I was a kid just so I could look for the mcdonaldland characters!
Captain Crook looks surprisingly not creepy or...uh...smoldering like in the 70s. And apparently the Mayor McCheese/ H.R. Puffenstuff copyright infrigement policy cleared!
Hahaha, Great one Ed. I remember the place, just never actually saw it, Sears was to good for us back then. I was a Woolworth's kid, you know, the place where you could buy a shirt, sandwich, and cat all in one stop, for about ten bucks "That place had all the great He-Man knock off action figures".
Wow, this really takes me back. I remember this ad appearing several times on this tape I used to watch as a little kid that had old Peanuts and Garfield TV specials on it.
I remember McKids. At least now I do...the repressed memories of those events, suddenly rushing back, no Uncle McCheese, I don't want to taste your pickle! Oh the horror!
I was 7 years old, living in Richmond, VA, when I first saw this... and more than 20 years on, in the UK, I still remember it well!

Just a marketing strategy used by McDonald's to get people to buy their food and what not.
