As you go faster you travel more distance in the same span of time. Without knowing the rate of acceleration you cannot accurately calculate 1/4 mile times based on 1/8th mile times. Because at the point you would start the second 1/8th mile, the car is already moving at high speeds.

It seems like automatics are much easier to use than sticks in a drag race.Obviously the car if it was auto would need to have some serious horsepower. When your dragging using a stick shift do you brake while in 1st gear and then clutch and gas like you would to get the car moving forward from a stop position?What are the steps to getting a great start while using a stick shift?

@harlemkiid149 usually it dont roll much but you can use ur ebrake or a line lock. u have to find the most rpm you can launch at without breaking traction and let off the clutch just right. too slow=burnt up clutch, too fast=no traction or broken parts. Most pros prefer autos because of the quick shifts, no loss in rpm,hold boost etc. this gsx has a built auto that can hold more power and will shift really aggressively, a drag cars automatic is very different than a 'boring' automatic

I launched an 87 hatchback mustang gt, with bolt ons and a computer swap, so hard it popped open the hatch and bent the whole uni body so it wouldn't shut right. It was a t-5. with a king cobra clutch. all the interior will start to get loose and your doors will be off a little, and some other little things that suck. .
