@Championsnipes Basically, after the revolution Lenin decreed that ballet was to continue as a testament to the work ethic, talents, blood, sweat & tears of the proletaria & be available (i.e affordable) to all, not just the wealthy few! Thank goodness he did! Ballet in Russia today is still available to all incomes - unlike London, for example, where a ticket in a good seat at Covent Garden is an arm & a leg & still frequented by that class of ppl who think it's the right thing to be seen at.
