Dreaming verse was always a part of this song. Do some homework on her. She had one of the most beautiful voices i have ever listened to. she was a very troubled woman and led a very hard and sad life. also, i will add that a song isnt responsible for people taking their own lives, the person who desides to take their life is responsible. thats like saying marilyn manson is responsible for Columbine.
How can you say the dreaming verse was unnecessarily added? it was always a part of the song. she was a very poetic, depressed, addicted person. it clearly reflects in most of her music. She was one of the most gifted singers i have ever listened to. also i dont feel that the song is responsible for any suicides. the people themselves hold that responsibilty. its like saying marilyn manson was responsible for columbine.
@Efreeti i totally agree with you, the dreaming part was uncalled for , it is supposed to be extremely sad and depressing :) but the song is beautifull non the less
@HollywoodKendrick What i meat when i said that the dreaming part was uncalled for is because that verse is not in the originlal soundrack by Rezső Seress. It takes the real meaning out of the originla song and makes it more nice and listener friendly, the song is sometimes preferred as the hungarian suicide song. It caused a wave of suicides in hungaria, when it first came out. I never said i did´nt like the Billy Holliday version, just think it is uneccesary to change the song when translated
@thorhildurol Actually that IS in the ORIGINAL song. Someone just left it out of the translation. And the dream Rezso spoke of, was not an actual dream. It was referring to the life he was living. Suicide would awaken him from this "dream".
her timbre isn't right for this song about death and suicide... not even the instrumental is good. Doesn't sound like death or wanting death, Screwed up version
@sebastianstuck that's due to the simpsons episode heheh ( the day the earth looked stupid ) it's part of a Halloween special where aliens take over and this song plays in the beginning of the episode the simpsons introduced an entire generation of people into incredible music... inadvertently
after this song i am wondering if i still have that old rope in basement.. i have better idea. play this song to Emo kids and claim that it is "old school emo music" and maybe they will finally do it...

@Efreeti That has always been in the poem/song.

No. That part was written by Sam Lewis for Billy Holiday's rendition.

@slutypet I'm confused - do you mean her timbre is or isn't right for this song (you say it is but then go on to bag it)?
