@InteIDesigns IMO, the best tip anyone can give to a new fish keeper would be to just do as much rearch as possible before buying fish. You will need to find out the specific care requirements for each fish you get, and ensure that you can accomodate all of its individual needs. And you will also need to have a basic understanding of the nitrogen cycle before even thinking about buying fish (the #1 mistake made by new hobbyists is putting fish in an uncycled tank).
