@blondefyi He hasn't been around anyone else that faints like I do. He does however lay down for my boyfriend when he is squatting a lot of weight and having a big change in heart rate and blood pressure.
@tmchampn I did have my doctor write a prescription for him but only because some business owners had issues with him being in their stores. I got him as a puppy and taught him basic obedience myself and he learned on his own to alert me. Look up service dogs under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Did you have to get a doctor to ok a service dog for you? I was not aware that they allow medical alert dogs for syncope? I have vasovagal syncope and was thinking of getting a service dog and was wondering what steps i need to take.
Yes, you deal with it well, I understand how frustrating it can be. I've been diagnosed with NCS for 11 yrs. It is frightening not to know when it will happen. My Dr. says it can't happen while sitting or lying down. I am a rare circumstance then because that is usually when it happens to me!
@taxjunky I have fainted several times while sitting! Some doctors told me that it is really rare to faint while sitting or laying but that it can happen and others have said it was impossible. I haven't fainted while sitting in 2 years though.
actually you are not fainting in the usual medical sense - you are doing pseudo-syncope: you fall over without any reduction in the blood flow to your brain. i guess you prefer the dog, but a psychologist or a psychiatrist might be more helpful in the long run.
@JBPS1 <<< Troll. However, I would like to make it clear for others viewing my channel that I am diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, Neurocardiogenic Syncope, Anemia and other things by doctors at the National Naval Medical Center and National Institutes of Health. I have 2 TTTs that prove that it is reduced blood flow to the brain. None of my doctors have any doubts about my faints and neither do I. I know that it isn't all in my head.
@sarahdionna I have neurally mediated reflex syncope, it is very difficult to put up with people assuming it is a psychological thing. I too have been diagnosed by a specialist and have had it for over 4 years now. I'm sure that people are just trying to help, but when you have been though the testing and the battle to get diagnosed it is a little trying. You have a wonderful dog and seem to be managing your syncope well. I hope you are doing ok :)

@ChrisVitchev I have no idea how he knows. I am thinking he might be able to hear it though. Sometimes if it is too loud or too much going on he isn't as sensitive to it. But each time he does is a great help!
What an incredible dog! My POTS in no where near as severe as yours and I can usually feel it coming on enough to sit or lie down before I completely lose concienceness...but that is a very small window..it is so impressive that Wahlburg can sense it so quickly. Amazing! I hope you are well
Kinda makes me cry :( my 10 yr old son has this and THANK GOD I have been with him when he has an episode. I pray this is a faze and he grows out of it. We were told by his heart doctor to keep hydrated this should keep his fainting down just tonight he had an episode it has been almost a year since his last one it makes me die inside I can not help this. I am so happy to see your puppy is with you and I know this makes your family happy too :)
@lanefam5 I hope your son gets better. They say that most kids will grow out of it on there own. I hope this is true of your son. It is tough to deal with on not just the patient but also family and friends. Just be there for your son and do the best you can as I am sure you are already doing! :) But I think support is better than any meds ever will be.
@j77walker Monte/Dana Jan 2009 "L" litter. He is a great dog! I couldn't have gotten a better dog at all. He is so smart and absolutely wonderful in every single way!
i have pots as well, and your dog is really amazing! your tip at the end is also very good... fainting is protection!! kinda lol.. i'm scared to faint outside! you're pretty brave to let yourself to faint like that - even for the video! :)
@strawberrygrl343 My theory is that I am going to faint at some point anyway no matter how many precautions I take, so I might as well use some of my faints to help spread awareness and to let others out there know that they are not alone in their struggles with dysautonomia.
@funnygirlyouknow123 It isn't a disease but rather a syndrome which means collection of symptoms. I have Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome and Neurocardiogenic Syncope. When I stand up, my heart rate goes up and my blood pressure slowly diminishes. I don't get enough oxygen to my brain and I collapse in a faint. Falling down actually allows the blood to be restored to my brain and I regain consciousness.
@sarahdionna oh ok, i was watching it and wondering if it's like anything i have. I have 2 cardiologists and they cant seem to figure out whats wrong with me. how long did it take for doctors to diagnose you?
@potsiemommy Thank you! I have no idea how he can tell but I was thinking maybe he can hear a change in my heart rate or blood pressure or that he can smell something is off. I don't always have symptoms before I faint but if I do have them, I can sit down for myself without him telling me to.
He's great. I'm diabetic and my cat tells me when my blood sugar is low by head butting me and screaming at me. if im asleep she bites me. its the only time she ever bites. when i shouldn't get up because of pots she lays on my chest. I cant take her everywhere with me though. Do you sit or lay down when your dog does, so you dont fall as hard as you did in the video?
@jones5pc I sit down next to him and he will not get up until it is okay for me to get up. He will position his body over me or put his paw on my shoulder.
that is awesome! not they you faint but that the dog can tell! its pretty awesome what they can do! i really wish i had one but i dont think thats gonna happen unfortunately.
@weenz05 I have been training 5 dogs now hoping at least one of them would sense it and he did. It took a lot of work and a lot of searching for the right dog for me but it was well worth it!
I am so glad that you have such a great service dog. I have POTS but don't faint because I have lots of warning. My service dog Ralph does block me from getting up or walking when I am likely to faint or just when I need to sit down right away. He has never been wrong and I did not train that either, he just knows. I thought that he could smell something but maybe we breath or look different too and dogs pick up on that stuff. Did you train him yourself? He is so beautiful!
@lednugenna I have been training him myself. I do email some people here and there about how to correct something. Most of everything I learned from reading books, watching youtube videos and from enrolling in Animal Behavior College online. I have not been able to finish the course because of being too sick.
Wow, that's amazing. They always say animals can pick up on things like this before they happen...At least if you're with him, he can give you a little bit of a warning before it happens. I'm impressed lol! :)
@xNikki713x Thank you so much! :) He is awesome! I am so excited about this video that I have not slept since 3pm yesterday and it is now 10:20am. I will be very very very faint feeling later. lol.
@blondefyi I have fallen on him a few times but he doesn't seem to mind that much. He is my cutie pie!
