@SpeakerFreak95 Good eye. That was a driver that was removed from one of the scoops for us to recone, the cone was torn but nothing wrong with the basket (actually the voice coil was still fine as well).
@SpeakerFreak95 This system was ran by a couple racks full of amps consisting of QSC EX4000 on subs, Crest 8001 on mid bass, QSC MX1500a on mids/highs. Then later upgraded to QSC PLX 3402 amps for mid bass & QSC PLX 3000 on mid/highs. This system was sold off a few years ago, I had a number of systems since. One thing to understand about sound systems is that watts by itself doesn't mean too much so yo shouldn't rate a system by how many watts it has.
scoop are only good for blowing speakers and fire wood i stick to folded horns for my dj i build scoops and found them to be waste of money and space
@vegaalex70 You only blow speakers if you don't have a clue as to matching proper T/S requirements of a cabinet or how to either tune & power the speaker. Scoops are htbrid horns that have their purpose for certain genres of music. Therre are also many different designs of scoop out there, not all are equal in performance. Take a look at my other videos & you'll see I have a large number of folded horns as well, each cabinet design has it's function & can perform well if used properly.
@MrNightro .....lol vegaalex70 is fuccing nuts.....he doesnt know what hes talking about, cause i just finished building my 2 18 super scoopers and they sound killer.....my friend can hear me from blocks away....he must of built one from cardboard and used a car speaker...lol.......got my neigbors houses shaking with just 2.............got to build 2 more.......peace..
@indestructible306 These are the AS&T version of the scoops what version are you building? The Fane design, Super scoop & the Hog design are good versions of the scoop that work well in small numbers & even better in large numbers, the AS&T version works best in larger numbers. Good luck & post a vid.
@MrNightro im going to be building a pair of Super scoops.....what wood do you recomend me to use.along with the scoops..im going to use my pair of peavey t-300 high frequency projectors- each projector has 2-12's, 2-10's, and 3 piezo tweeters...they are old speakers but they sure sound loud and clear....im going to be using 2 behringer EP2500 POWER AMPS...AND A Rane AC 22B Active Crossover
@indestructible306 OK, the super scoop is based on the Fane design which is the best design of the scoop I have ever heard (I have heard many versions f the scoop), I have a pair in this video at the very end for about 4 seconds or so. Baltic Birch is the bes ply to use, Marine ply is decent as well, in oterh horn designs that have better bracing Fir ply would work but not very good in scoops. Replace the piezo tweeters for a compresion driver horn, this will improve the sound quaity.
@MrNightro ...i was planning on using 3/4 mdf wood..well i whant this for my back yard gig.....so im not going to be moving them around that much......i know mdf is heavy..but its cheap.....ill see what i get wenever i go to the lumber yard....thanks
@stefanmplayer Thanks, I want to post a video of my new system in action however my neighbor calls the police if he catches even a glimpse of my speakers. I had a video from a gig I did about two months ago but the camera was stolen during the gig before I had a chance to upload it. I am taking a break from gigs until the new year so I'll post one once I start up gigs again.
This system has long since been sold with having had three systems since this time. I now have a new one on the way that I am planning to post a new video of about a month after I get it so I have time to form a well rounded opinion on.
Well the Tubas where sold before i could do a video on them but...... I shall do a video on my next set of subs....(one to two months away from that though).
these tunes are toooo much..shivers down the spine..
