I accidentally deleted a comment from someone who said he was considering doing the straight pipe but didn't want to lose the refinement of his 300SDL. You will definately lose refinement with this modification. My SDL is pretty ratty, bad paint, etc.. If I had one in mint condition, I would still do it tho. If I had to do it again, I would not put a tip on the exhaust pipe, I've got some 20+ inch stainless tip on mine, and while it looks good, at some RPMs it does vibrate with a sour note.
Yeah man, let us know something. i got a 86 sdl, the best ive gotten is 0-60 in 16 seconds w/o a/c, with a/c add 2 sec. runs fine, low smoke. Great sound tho!

I would like to run straight exhaust so I can hear the turbo but I'm afraid a cop will be able to tell its straight exhaust and pull me over.

@kinop233 I opened up the ALDA to increase pre-boost fueling and I ran the engine for a mile or so off of a soda bottle of diesel purge.
