There's nothing wrong with doing covers. Eric Clapton, BB King, SRV, and many other greats did covers all of the time, and not just because they were blues musicians. The Red Hot Chili Peppers are all about grooving and enjoying music. If a group of people want to cover their songs, then that's awesome. These guys are pretty good, even if the singer does sing some flat notes, and the guitarist doesn't have that Fruciante touch. They're groovin' to music they enjoy, so live and let love, dudes. Besides, RHCP has done numerous covers (granted, they often made some major changes).

Although, I do agree the outfits kinda push it a little far. ;)

The guitarists phrasing in the intro is completely askew of any version I've seen Frusciante play, not to mention that the descending line to the F Sharp chord starts on the wrong note. The singer makes me want to stick an auger into each of my ear canals. The bass is a respectable technical player, but without the signature Modulus bass sound the "Flea" tone is completely lost. I respect the Chili Peppers a lot as an artist, but I believe their music should be left to them. They do it best.
