  • Is that Lamont Bentley from Moesha @2:20? I had no idea he passed...what happen?

  • With the death of OUR Whitney..Universe has taken "The Queen" of THE Highest Vibration given to humanity!!!

  • Brought tears to my eyes.

  • And Michael Is There Too...

  • elvis presley doesn't belong in this pantheon. He was an arch racist, imitator and thief of black music. He stole "Hound Dog" from Big Mama Thornton when Black people couildn't gety copyrights, when there was apartheid in America. It was called segregation-legally enforced. And as far as the king, it was was Chuck Berry. Just for the recore. krxn11

  • @KRxN11 Elvis does belong he gave credit to many of these artists during there time. None of them could help the time or circumstances they born into if Johnny had enough respect to put Elvis in the song don't you believe it is a reason for this. Great song Johnny Taylor R.I.P.

  • @KRxN11

  • Beautiful..just beautiful

  • Did somebody forget to add the King of Pop, Michael J. Jackson"? where is his recognition?

  • @cameraman297 Michael Jackson died after this song was made. This song was made in 1999.

  • The great AL "TNT" Braggs is remembered at the 3:30 mark--R.I.P.

  • Johnny really out did his self on this one. It's sad to think about b/c we have lost a lot of good famous and non-famous people. I know my father, sisters, and other family members are enjoying all those concerts. R.I.P

  • Nice video, but, Where's "Florence Ballard"? Is She in "Soul Heaven"? Nice tribute.

  • I read some of the comments below and some of them saddens me. This is site is entended to give us a little joy about some of the people that moved us in one way or another...So please people if you don't have some thing good to say then just keep it movin....

    Jimmy Levine...

  • Thank you so much for sending the Soul Heaven playlist....What a concept!!!!!Love it so much...As a people we are great and this just proves it.....

    JL

  • Wow! A lot of my childhood in these photos.

  • This is my grandather Johnnie Taylor that is singing this song and also the first picture in your collage. I am his oldest grandaughter...RIP Grandpop!

  • @4uChancesAre I am a fan of your grandfather's music eventhough I am a "younging" if you will say. My dad & I love this song.

  • Ok thanks for that. Who is that at 4:30?

  • This was a nice tribute

  • I believe there's no need to add Michael Jackson to all these memorial vids. there's more to black music than MJ. plus, he's the king of pop, not the king of black music as a whole. To overdo it would make MJ seem like he's the epitome and the breath of life in music and although I loved his music and all that, I just can't put all that into one man.

  • Love it, great job!

  • Beautiful tribute!

  • who wuz the lady at 2:22

  • Who is that at 4:29?

  • @Dbonner153 4:29 was an up to date Rick James

  • @Dbonner153 merlin santana

  • It would have been great if the names of the people were listed under them but the trivia of trying to remember who everyone was is out of sight!

  • @Dbonner153 Nippsy Russell

  • @Dbonner153 4:29 is Nippsie Russell.

  • @Dbonner153 Merlin Santana...he played Romeo on the Steve Harvey Show

  • Thank you for showing the picture that IS happening at this VERY momment!!!

I KNOW my Cuz' RICK JAMES looked for a 'super fre....'as soon as he got pass the cloud!!!

  • what would music be without great soul artists?

  • One of the Tempts should been edit out.

  • Very beautiful. It made my heart happy to remember those who left us too soon; they will live in our heart forever!!

  • Great video. Thanks for posting.

  • wow, unfortunately too many of them are in "Soul Heaven" and this video could go on forever. Good job and way to remember SOME of our greats. As we think of those who are in "soul heaven" but not in this slideshow, maybe send the names to the publisher to add them in.

  • @sylveronutube Well being in Soul Heaven is not really unfortunate if you think about it.

  • Loved this. Felt sad however that so many died from preventable disease including smoking, illegal drugs and obesity. They shared so much with us and we need to learn from that as well.

  • What happen to Aaliya, Left Eye from TLC and Barry White???

  • This was a very good slide show! And that to "Nootract" that is not the Rev. Joseph Lowery, that is Eddie Robinson. Get your facts straight before trying to criticize someone. To the PUBLISHER great JOB!

  • @:42 is Eddie Robinson the former football coach at Grambling

  • where's Gregory Hines?

  • Sorry, my "Soul Heaven" brothers and sisters--Reverand Joseph Lowery is at :42 and as of February 12, 2010 he is NOT in Soul Heaven (at least not yet) as he's still kickin' it in Atlanta, GA!!!

  • Soooo very cool!

  • Beautiful Tribute *****

  • Where are Blue's Greats Albert King, Albert Collins, JR Wells , Luther Allison , Little Jimmy King ??????

  • Where is the godfather of soul

    James Brown

  • rip to all the greats we lost-music will never be the same

  • Michelle played on, The Cosby Show & Family Matters. Theo's gf, and Urkel liked her??

Sadly she was only 29 when she died.

  • michelle thomas

  • @gadiva2..Dont remember her name..but i think she was either involved with or engaged to Malcolm Jamal Warner.

  • Who is the girl @2:37....Nice video

  • @Darneloh - Carl Wright

  • What was old guy's name at 3:50 I know he was a comedian and he played in a few movies like Soul Food,Big Mama's House and The Cookout. I just never knew his name and didn't know he died!

  • Heaven arms opened to another Great..Bless you..Teddy ...1/14/10

  • Whoever did the editing o this video did a great job, this is one o my favorite songs, when johnny taylor died i listened to his songs all day

  • i love it, we must remember God forgave us so we must be the same way. i wish the song kept on longer i know that on the day God comes for us all that it's going to be nice l those singers will be singing praise songs in the purest keys and highest notes soooo damn beautiful we won't be able to stand it that's why the Bible writes about the Rapture, we are the voices along with the angels and it's going to be sooo much fun, no time for re-criminations no blame no shame just pure love pure joy

  • Where is Minnie Riperton? James Brown? and Michael Jackson?

  • If it was rumor that one of the people featured in the video had said that "blacks were only good for shining his shoes," then this is a good video. It this was said then this video is in need of an editing job.

  • A great song with alot of meaning. good job on the video.

  • Who sings this song?

  • Johnny Taylor

  • Thanks for posting this video! Gone but definitely not forgotten. Have a joy filled, music filled, safe and happy new year!

  • Great video, I only wish that each picture had a corresponding name emblazoned on it.

  • Man thats a really nice video i listen to this song all the time and still too this day when i listen it brings a tear to my eyes

  • 2pac & Biggie closed the show

  • wow, this song is wack

  • For anybody questioning where is all these other stars? allot of them died after johnny made this song? Im 24 years old and my father played this song for me when I was 17 so remember the people and just enjoy the song please.

  • I wish music was still like this...WOW!!!!

  • How can there be a soul heaven without the Godfather of Soul!?!

  • great song but where is Phyllis Hyman?

  • @deewilla she's in there

  • Johnny, Johnny, Johnny, tell me now ---! WHERE IS RAY CHARLES!!!!

  • Can anyone tell me who that is at 2:17 i cant remember

  • @Kemby73 Would you happen to know when and how this child died? I am really surprised and saddened to see his face here.

  • That's nice, but they need a part two for the ones that wasn't mention, Now we have to be fair with this we have more famous ones that was left out!!!!!

  • Wow. This is very sad. It hurts to see all of these greats that are no longer with us. It especially strikes a chord with some of the recent ones like Mr. Mac who was just with us last year.

  • Nice vid but would be even better with name checks on the next one.

  • Anybody know where I can get that CD? I love the song, and it sure brings back memories. Instead of crying, my love, I'll rather we celebrate their lives and recognize them as our heroes. They made an impact on our lives, changed so many people, touched so many souls, and made an indelible impact on all of us. I for one, I am proud to be Black, and I thank God for the lives of these our heroes.

  • The cd is by Johnny Taylor I think it was his last CD before he pasted

  • First of all, I'm not a cracker, I'm a Afro-American, and

for your information, you are no any better than a white

guys who keep calling us Niggas. I hear that word all

the time. I was talking about Michael Jackson, Patrick

Swayze, and Farrow Fowcett. See, I believe in judging

other people, base on any color of skin. If you want

to hate somebody, that's your business, but I'm not

going to be lot that, because that's not my family

    raise me.

Sandra Dee Lawson. September 19 2009.

  • :17 looks like my dad

    R.I.P.

  • Love it, I want to be part it, soulman 1950

  • I Love this song!!!!!!

  • Gave a standin ovation..Curtain came up on the mighty Temptation...

  • I think you've better add some more rooms, because you've got Michael Jackson, Farrow Fowcett, and now Patrick

    Swayzee. Celebratie's death's goes on

    and on, none stop.

    Sandra Dee Lawson.

  • To put Toupac and Big in with all of these people for me is indicative of all the Lies Hatred and man's inhumanity against mankind that has ever been committed! They did it with Lies!

To say that those "TWO" are like the rest, Is just one of those very same "Lies"

    We are a changed people!

More Like those "2" Not Like the rest!

  • biggie doesnt but 2pac deserves it he fought for blacks

  • I think what is trying to be said, is that for all they did whether good or bad they were very talented and taken away much to early as is everyone else in the video.

  • Kemby,

I am guessing you are from my neck of the woods because it really did my heart some good to see Steve Ladd and Al TNT Braggs in there. Wonderful video.

    T.L. Harris

  • i lke biggie but i dont think he deserves it he just rapped about money sex and weed and girls

  • can anyone tell me who the lady is @ 2:04? i would really appreciate it......

  • That's Tamara Dobson aka Cleopatra Jones. 6'2" model turned actress, made The Guinness Book of World records for being the tallest leading lady. Go to IMDb for more about her.

  • Cleopatra Jones she starred in Black films in the 70's died about 4 years ago of Multiple Sclerosis

  • great song missed a few heavy weights pictures.
