This is 100 times better than Beijing. It is so much more artistic and so much more powerful. I don't care about numbers of people or whatever. The Beijing was not very artistic. It was more about individual tricks like stacking people on each other or moving oars. This is beauty like you will never see again. I think partly it is due to the design of the stadium. The way those fireworks just wrap around the stadium is amazing and the olympic rings and the torch and the pageantry. Go Greece!

I don't believe these Olympic ceremonies will ever be matched..even the Chinese couldn't come close,there's was so phony,especially the fake fireworks,it was pretty ok ,but no heart and no olympic soul..too bad money is all the Chines worry about with there Olympics..there were so many scams during the purchasing of the tickets,they hoted all the tickets.there's was bassically souless..

yes. If you read carefully, I did say its the OPENING ceremony. Maybe you got confused because I explained it as the ENDING of the OPENING ceremony. Not the closing ceremony. :)

It's called 'Opalita' performed by Eleftheria Arvanitaki.

Actually it's a remix of the song 'Ela pare mou ti lypi' composed by Manos Hatzidakis. The remix is done by Konstantinos Vita (or KBhta) and it was released in 2002, but it was sung by an unknown singer.

Actually, 'Ena Peristeri' should be translated as 'a Dove' for its deep symbolism of PEACE and LOVE especially since the 2004 Athens Olympic Games "UNITED THE WORLD" and heavily promoted HUMANITY, thus having chosen as its Mascots, for the first time ever, people-shaped dolls: Athena and Phevos!! There were some interesting parts at the Athens 2004 ceremonies but the complete show was too kitschy. I think the most interesting part was the Allegory during the opening ceremony. In my opinion, the baddest choice was the non-stop music show of Dutch DJ Tiësto during the athletes parade...Yet to be silent about the 'cigar' and the screaming accent of the stadium speakers.
