Does any normal person have the exact same taste in music they had 10 or 15 years ago? probably not. So why should people in bands be any different? I know when I use to be a kid I liked metal as hard and fast as I could get it. Now I actually pay attention to the melody, tone and chord progressions of a song and appreciate it for what it is, reguardless of how hard it is. That is what IF has done. They might not be as hard anymore, but compositionally speaking they are far more mature now.

Sad to see that almost every band that starts off like In Flames did seems to stray away from what amkes them great and go more "mainstream." In Flames seems poised to do it... Lacuna Coil did it, Mudvayne did it (SO SAD); more and more great bands seem to start going south after they become genuinely popular. It pisses me off.

@ilIusion89 I agree with that idea, I don't expect anyone to rewrite the same albums over and over, that's reserved for radio-friendly American bands (not listing them, for fear of upsetting some sad teenager in America). I love the old In Flames, but I am still having a hard time digesting the new stuff. I'll just say that the song "Deliver Us" isn't easy on my ears after hearing songs like Embody The Invisible for most of the time I've known of this band. I don't hate it entirely.
