Good bus, well designed, good on the kiwis! (new zealanders designed/built the bus in christchurch, new zealand). that buzzing/clicking is the indicator.
I am from New York City, and last word I heard is that we are still going ahead with the order for thirty (30) 40ft (12m) Designline Ecosaver IV hybrid buses for use on Manhattan streets. They should arrive within the coming months. We tested a 35-foot model some time ago.
Thank you for the response. My transit director refuses to purchase a hybrid bus. He believes that: 1] microturbine power will not work at 10,000 feet of altitude; 2] maintenance costs will increase with a hybrid system; 3] fleet fuel consumption will not decrease over the 5 mpg that our buses get now; 4] the additional up-front investment cost will not be repaid through operation of hybrid buses. Anyone who finds research to refute these arguments, I will be grateful.

DesignLine EcoSaver IV is supposed to double the fuel economy of a diesel bus.
Does anyone have information on whether New York City is going ahead with the purchase of more DesignLine EcoSaver IV buses?
I cannot find any post-demonstration reports.
