They both sound like jackasses... Neither of them know what they hell they are talking about... But then again that is they key! Use big random words and if no one knows what your talking about...no one can say your wrong.
Check out a company called Abiquo: Follow them on twitter at #abiquo
Unlike other cloud products that were built as tactical solutions to support a specific hypervisor technology, Abiquo was developed from a strategic top-down perspective, to allow customer environments to both fully deliver on the promises of virtualization, and to transition geographically disparate datacenter installations and third party hosted resources, into a fully managed enterprise cloud operating at a global scale.
I don't really understand the benefits cloud computing. But it looks like a way to combat piracy. Since everything is not stored in your HD, you can't share it with anyone else. So if you buy a game, movie, app, or book it is stored some place other than your HD. Moreover, every time you wan't to watch a movie or even play a single player game you need to access it online -- I'm sure your isp is going to like that (sarcasm). I like the idea, but having a slow connection is painful.
I'm not sure what they are talking about... however cloud computing is the ability to cleanly share, consume, and expand a group of compute resources at will. It's that simple. There are numerous cloud resources and implementations available.
I'm sure that is how businesses see it but who's talking about it from the "normal person's point of view? Where's the simple explanation of why someone like myself, a university student, would use cloud computing?
The reason there is much of variant between answers is because there's noting really new to define. So, they're describing cloud computing is in terms of all possible scenarios of existing remote virtualization technologies. it's just as as buzz as "web 2.0"
Penkovski you hit it exactly right when you said "it sounds like a fix no one knows to a problem that doesn't exist" and these people have no idea what the term actually means. its basically just having a website and using other people and corporations computers to handle the people getting on your website without you having to have a room full of servers at your house. nothing more. these douches are idiots
I have to agree with rhayder. This sounds like just another useless buzz word. Whatever it is, it sounds like a fix no one knows to a problem that doesn't exist.

@ALogic1200 - this is good explaination, plus lower TCO. But I don't see more than this. CC is nothing but hype in my opinion.

They're talking about delivery. Delivery of what? Most likely advertisements. This is nothing about the customer... it is all about profits.

what next... generic cloud services API's called "precipitates", a service registry called "nimbus" and cloud data objects called "droplets"...
just hook it up to the cloud dude and all your problems will be solved... what a load of barf.

These people are total bull**** artists that are skilled at speaking gibberish when they get a question they know very little about.
It's obvious they haven't a clue about the concept of cloud computing.
