  • love this video, even the calming music in the background

  • Very Nice video!

I saved it and will go to the site!

  • are you in a business of making a soap??:) very nice tutorial! but i find it hard to do.. :(

  • very nice video !!! but just wondering is it safe to make soap even if your pregnant?

  • yes, it is safe. Common sense measures such as not inhaling the lye and working in a well ventilated area apply. =)

  • Where is the best place to buy lye for making soap? Is there a better brand than another?

  • Best video on soap making...thorough and to the point...thanks it was very helpful!

  • I have the same scale and pitcher! Time to get cookin' up some soap :) You just made it look so easy. Thanks!

  • Maybe the best video on soap on Youtube!

  • I agree ;-)

  • Thanks so much for this video!! It was extremely helpful. I haven't made soap before, but I'd really like to and this video really helped <3

  • Best video for beginers on Youtube! Thanks!

  • This is a fantastic video. I made my first batch of soap in years today and I watched your video before hand to just get a refresher. It is tempting to peek at the soaps, isn't it? I can't wait until tomorrow when I can pull it out of the molds. Thanks for the vid!

  • Thank you for a brilliant soap making video. Yon seem really nice. By the way your voice is real gentle sounding.

  • Wow, you've taught over 10,000 people how to make soap! Congratulations! Woudln't it be nice if everyone could get away from the toxic bars sold in the grocery store!

You did a 5* job. Beats me why no one rated already!

  • How come it takes weeks to use the soap like you mentioned at the end, and why does soap has to use lye?

  • You have to let the soap cure when using CP.

    Great video BTW!

  • Check out our other video "The Chemistry of Soap Making". It explains all of this. =)

  • You have to let the lye turn into soap, and this can take several weeks. If you use it too soon, the soap will be very bad for your skin. The bar also has to try out, and get hard. It's best to let your soap cure for 4-6 weeks.

  • This really is a great video - thank you for enforcing good safety practices! I'm recommending this video to people who have asked me to teach them to soap !

  • Great video, I've been researching for over a year on how to make soap via cold process method, and this is one of the best videos I've seen, good work :) I am wondering though, where do you get your lye? I am having an *incredibly* difficult time finding it, other than online... I hate buying things from online so I avoid it as much as possible. I've tried Lowe's, they said they didn't have it? Thanks for your answer :)

  • this is the first time I have seen rather than read about this being done. You make it look easy, and it really isn't that difficult - not once you get the steps down - I wonder, do you have a list you look at while working to remind you what to do next? I wish I had a friend who would like to try this with me!

    the finished soap looks beautiful!

  • I always have a notebook on hand, even for recipes I have done a hundred time.

  • Great! I checked several soap making videos, this is simply the best!

    Good music too!

  • hi. can u post the site whre u bought the mold and cutter? would appreciate any feedback!

great vid tutorial by the way!

  • its really good but wait i dont know what levendr essential oil is or what i need it for or levender herb or palm oils

  • This is the best soapmaking video I have seen! You made soapmaking seem simple and not at all scary, while not minimizing the safety precautions one should take. Til now I was too nervous to try it myself. Thank you very much.

  • if its natural or organic soup why the lye if its really toxic.. explain please unless ur making conventional soap??? :o

  • I'm not sure what you mean by "conventional soap." This is the soapmaking method that has been used for centuries. Lye is extremely toxic, but if soap is made correctly, there is no lye in the soap. Please see our video "The Chemistry of Soapmaking" for an explanation. You cannot make soap without lye.

  • thank you friend and you are right if not whoever finds a vagetable soap base will become a trillionare! lol! but you answered my doubt.. "Lye is extremely toxic, but if soap is made correctly, there is no lye in the soap" nice info again THANK YOU!!

also what do you think about making Soap with Pure 1000% clean Distilled Water instead Purified? i dont want Sodium Fluoride in my Soap.. =/

  • Distilled or bottled water from a good source are best. Some tap water contains minerals that can do weird things in soap. Usually, these contaminants wind up floating and forming a "skin" at the top of the lye/water mixture, so you'll likely know they are there.

  • All soap has lye in it. If it doesn't then it's a detergent, which very bad for the skin. The lye "matches up" with the oil used in the recipe and becomes soap. This process is called sopanofication. The soap has to cure for several weeks for all the lye to bond with the oils to become soap. Typically this happens in 4-6 weeks. You can speed this process up by doing what is called Hot Process, which uses heat to speed up the sopanofication process.

  • Hi, i would like to ask, for the equipments for soap making, can they be reused for cooking? like your stick blender, pot, etc. cos they were in contact with lye. please pm me. thanks :)

  • I don't reuse mine for cooking because I sell my soap. Some folks have extreme allergies to think such as peanut oil, and I'd hate to have cross contamination. However, if you are only using your soap and food for yourself, a run through the dishwasher should get your items clean enough to use for cooking. Cheers!

  • Wow vair nice video! I like because it's very exactly.

  • Yes, thank you. (I did peak and worried that I had messed everything up!)

  • i want to do this and i know i will be tempted to look and i dont want to think that so do you mind telling me what it looked like??? it would be a lot of help

    thanks!

  • The soap turns into a gel and gets darker and may even boil up a little in the center. It all depends on the type of mold you are using and how well you have insulated it. People tend to get really finicky during this stage and start poking around, stirring, temp testing, etc. We think it's best to just leave it alone! =)

  • thanks so much for such detail video.

  • hello I liked very much your video! I also whant to start macking soaps, so I would like to know were do you buy your ingredients, like the coconut oil, palm oil, lavander herb, lavander oil, scale. Do you buy it at wallmart, academy, or other special stores???

  • Thanks. Helped alot!

no other video worked for me.

    thanx so much.
