1) The 450D isn't a high end consumer model. It's a basic DSLR. The 40D is the high end consumer model, or the "Prosumer" model.

2) The 450D uses DIGIC III, not DIGIC II. The 400D uses DIGIC II. The 40D uses DIGIC III and the 50D Uses DIGIC4.

3) MP Resolution doesn't tell you shit about image quality, it only tells you the size of the image. If anyone tries to tell you otherwise, they're lying. The image sensor determines IQ along with the 'glass' (lens) it is looking thorugh.

i have the canon 450d and its a brilliant camera , i have cs3 photoshoot so you can tweak the photos to make any ajustments and with a better lens than the standard one will give same photo as any other expesive camera

even the best photographers will use photoshoot to ajust the photos and they use 5k cameras

so a good lens and photoshoot will shoot amazing photos without spending 5k

450d is a great camera cos its light easy to carry around where the nikon was heavy

If you're new to a DSLR the 450D is a very good buy. If you already have a canon DSLR 300D/350D then the 40D is a great upgrade.

More megapixels does not equal better. It's largely marking, a simple number that average joe can understand, so that's what they push.

Last point, he did mention that the images compared were taken with the same lens AND that the contrast difference can be easily fixed after the fact.

Someone set on image quality could buy a 450D body and put the large savings toward better glass. For prosumers who need durability, better viewfinder, faster burst speeds, quicker top shutter speed, better autofocus and higher sensitivity spending the money on the better body is worth it

5 grand for a lens,i dont see any review that shows its low light imaging with the standard lens at high iso on long exposures,to test any electronics, always use worse case scenario.low light , long exposure,high ISO ,then look for noise,even a cheap camera will give reasonable results with good light & glass.

but, your missing one thing. He had an 18-55 on the 450 D and a 50-200mm? or something similar on the 40D. How silly, he should have put the same lens on each camera because of course the picture wuality will be different with a different lens. This review is wrong!
