This happened to my charger this week, G4, 5 years old. First it was charging intermittently, then the 'clicking' started. Yesterday it sparked, flaired and stopped working. Shocking. Dangerous too.

I took it to the Apple shop in Regent St. London, and they exchanged it for free.

Take that cord to the genesis bar and let them replace it for free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they replaced one for my friend's powerbook that did exactly that after applecare ran out. Dunno why, but they'll do it.
