  • Welcome to Monmouth College Class of '72 ... That's when this album appeared

  • I wish this song were longer.

  • the american version of the Office is shit

  • The kid in the hat looks like he's from Adventure time.

  • short, simple, great

  • I wish this was longer!

  • I think the lyrics actually say: "Steak for the sun". It fits perfectly with the whole sowing allegory.

  • Nuovi bambini giocano sul prato

nuovi corpi stanchi dormono di sotto

ma sempre ritorna la pensosa primavera

e sempre ritorna la neve puntuale...( Emily Dickinson)

  • @LeePritch Hey !!!! Give Steve Merchant some credit too... he did write it too

  • @mshalfaperson Yeah, but Ricky is the one who likes this type of music so it's only fair to assume he had the idea to use it for the Extras outro.

  • Would've loved to have been one of those people that sang

    "HAAAAAAAPPYYYYYY DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

  • Yes! Lord Buddha, give "wine to the woman who made the rain come". that whore Inanna! i know william blake and aleister crowley wont be spared your judgments either. show them the real dharma, the true nature of PERFECT consciousness and let them and all their hosts be repaid or what they've done. if you do not do this, i'll abandon you and take death for my friend instead, just like jonah did.

  • Extras? I first heard this in Harold and Maude.

  • Ricky Gervias has genuinely got such a good taste in music.

  • @LeePritch5 i agree

  • @LeePritch5 yeah but he is a prick though, love all the stuff he's done love karl but just think ricky is a right prick.

  • I wish this was longer! I love it so much <3

  • I love Extras as much as Yusef hates Salman Rushdie.... and thats alot.

  • is that it?

  • You were so ahead of time....I guess you still are...Love & thanks IAN

  • I'm pro the rigth of fair use!

  • @eggmanwalrus yes!

  • I always think of my ex when I hear the line "wine for the woman who made the rain come." But I love the hope in the line "while the sinners sin, the children play." Life goes on no matter what sad things happen in the world.

  • Incredible

  • He actually appears to be singing "bring tea farter man". Not sure what I think about that.

  • extras baby

  • I love this song so much, but it makes me feel like I just read half a book and I was really getting into it, but then someone stole the book and destroyed every existing copy of it.

    Needs to be longer :-(

  • REPEAT REPEAT REPEAT REPEAT REPEAT REPEAT REPEAT REPEAT

  • I already had this album, before watching Extras. Which by the way, is lagging quite far behind the genius of The Office.

  • @crisatunity it wasn't supposed to be like the office, nothing can actually, but nonetheless it's filled with simple funny things that are happening in real life. and that was the whole point, to bring the akward moments to funny side. it's not lagging quite behind the genious of the office cause you can't repeat genious. so, you can say I disagree.

  • @Brancina Thanks for uploading this

  • @Brancina Double correction: It actually is spelled genius mr smartie pants.

  • @crisatunity I like Extras much more than The Office, so I guess you can say they're slightly different kinds of show.

  • @crisatunity as much as i love the office, i find extras funnier, and more relatable. i also think that andy and maggies friendship is the most believable, cute and effortless friendship ive ever seen on tv or in a film. brilliant show, cant be topped.

  • @crisatunity Yeah, you and millions of other individuals.

  • Cat siempre será un monstruo de la música, los que le conocemos desde hace años nos sigue impresionando su facilidad para componer bellisimas canciones, gracias por todo y que Alá te acompañe

  • ricky gervais surely has a great taste in music..................

  • wish it was longer :/

  • harold and maude

  • i wish this song was longer! i guess "Repeat: Track" will have to do ;)

  • To all those complaining that it should be longer, that's the beauty of it. Its simple and sweet with so much spirit condensed into just one amazing minute. And if the song did go on any longer we'd all be in tears.

  • extras<3 forever and always

  • 0:47 scared the shit out of me

  • 3 people don't drink tea

  • greatest one-minute song of all time.

  • Extras

  • Is it me or does the volume get higher at one point, 00:48?

  • i love you Extras, forever and ever

  • Oh and, I think the actual lyric is "Steak for the sun." I thought that's what he meant, and looked it up. :)

  • A 1 minute masterpiece!

  • Extras

  • Jesus christ I nearly shit myself at 0:48

  • @sebbee1231 lmfao!

  • I like this song, short and sweet! :)

  • anyone who dislikes this song should be made to live in his beard...

  • sounds a bit like peter gabriel

  • why mr cat, why? dumb religion ending you good songwriting....

  • @ezmereldagreen It's just an expression, mate. Calm down.

  • When my best friend passed away, this is the only song I would listen to. I still tear up every time I listen to it.

  • Thumbs up if 'Extras' brought you here

  • Ricky gervais EXTRAS and 1971 Harold and Maude which is was written for, Dont you retards watch things?

  • @watcher18893 was just thinking that ha.... Extras was great

  • It might be from "The Office"

  • @orbifoldish 'Extras'

  • the definition of 'short and sweet'

  • the definition of 'short and sweet'

  • @WetCementTM that is a perfect description

  • what is this song? where does it come from?

is this a children song... or what is this...

  • @utenety159 en(.)wikipedia(.)org/wiki/Tea_for_the_Tillerman

  • @utenety159 The song is Tea for the Tillerman, by Cat Stevens off Tea for the Tillerman album. Lean about the 60's and 70's in America, you'll be surprised by what you find out.

  • @utenety159 This is also the theme song for the Ricky Gervais show 'Extras.'

  • @utenety159 It's the intro to Cat Stevens' superb album of 1970. A real classic

  • what is this song? where does it come from?

  • 3 people get NO Tea !!!!

  • @WetCementTM Excellent! :) To me it sounds like calm and content nostalgia; like reminiscing about good old times... you know... something great that was, but not nagging about the fact that it isn't now.

  • Thanks to Ricky Gervais and the people at Extras for introducing me to this little slice of musical genius!

  • @bustedup same

  • @WetCementTM very nice :)

  • es tan consiso, digamos tan corto, y tan lleno de poesia, es lo mas lindo que escuchare.

  • Masterpiece! :)

  • I disapointed, is the perfect song but is so short, why??

  • I always thought this was part of a greater work, would have wanted to hear more.

  • 2 people missed the "Like" button

  • @blankchannel 2 people don't like it because it isn't long enough

  • is this the full song?

  • @PinkandReds yes

  • @PinkandReds Yup, and it's just right.

  • @PinkandReds get the album

  • Every time I hear this song I think about Extras! ahah :)

  • why are all good songs so short

its the same as john mayer 'wherever i go'

  • @h1lleard please dont compare cat stevens to john mayer. please.

  • To the two people that hit dislike... are you havin' a laugh? Are they havin' a laugh?!?

  • @djmertz lol!!!!

  • Extras!!!!

  • My favorite song of all time

  • Harold and Maude! AWWWWWWWWWWWWW

  • I wish this was five times longer! At least!

  • extras <3

  • @nichtswiezuvor "are you avin a laugh, is he avin a laugh??"

  • I thought his name was joe islam now

  • Like this if you heard on it Extras! :)

  • heard this from extras and now i love it!!

  • 0:48 OMG that scared the fuck out of me the background vocals that is it sounded like a record of Cannibal Corpse not joking WTF :O

  • i like how that box comes up and says "listen"

  • ye..i guess it's ok..it could be a bit shorter..i was getting bored towards the end

  • Darn. I always loved this (what I assumed to be) fragment of a song from Harold and Maude. Finding it now and being able to easily listen to it over and over again is bittersweet, since I'd always somehow assumed there was more of it that didn't make the film. Its simply beautiful, and it is now a favorite, but darn--like many previous posters I wish it was longer. As it is, its a lovely reminder that you can't always get what you want.

  • I also just looked up this song because I heard that clip on extras. Then when I found out it was by Cat Stevens that just made my day happy. :)

  • Human army is better than YOUR ARMY

  • Bring tea for the tillerman, steak for the son, wine for the woman who made the rain come. Seagulls sing your hearts away, cuz while the sinners sin, the children play, OH LORD how they play and play. For that happy day, for that HAPPY DaaaAAaaAAYYyyYYYY!

  • I don't know if its because of the build-up or the choir's singing but, when they come in this song gets me (meaning i love it, not that this song is sentient and understands bob lob law.)

  • Mmmmm.. red wine..

  • I wouldn't add another second to this song. I understand what Cat was doing here and he executes it brilliantly. Any more time on this song would take away from the whole.

  • Love the Extras

One of the best series ever

  • Gervais

  • @ThePokeyPictures

All you need to formulate what you mean.

    Brilliant.

  • way too short :(

  • I'm going to see him tomorow night :D

  • is it by slade

  • @l0rdr3ginald398 Don't be an idiot. He's a muslim, not a terrorist and he is a wonderful man who donates large proportions of his yearly income to charities

  • @l0rdr3ginald398 Don't be an idiot. He's a muslim, not a terrorist and he is a wonderful man who donates large proportions of his yearly income to charities

  • @mattsteroyster my bad i was being sarcastic. you know he is on the no fly list right?

  • @l0rdr3ginald398 Oh. I thought he was taken off that?

  • @l0rdr3ginald398

This man that you are reffering to as a terrorist

has brought so much happiness through his music to millions

    of people around the world.

Shared his most inner thoughts and visions and has made alot of money

    for simply expressing him self.

I think you need to learn the true definition of the word TERRORIST before using it!

  • faaaaaaarrrrr too short :(

  • I want him to go and add two or three more verses to this song, it's such a nice song but it's far too short :(

  • @Twnglck40s: I just spoke with him on the phone and he said ok :D

  • @Brancina

Seriously the funniest reply I have ever seen on Youtube.

  • @Brancina phhhh what a load of shit ¬_¬

  • @Brancina good one! I hope you remembered to say peace be to the prophet before you hung up!

  • @Brancina Did he really?

  • @Brancina lmao, nice answer

  • @Brancina really?

  • @Twnglck40s I think of it as a lullaby. short and sweet :)

  • @Twnglck40s I think of it as a lullaby. short and sweet :)

  • @Twnglck40s ... which makes it the perfect length to be the closing theme on an hilarious yet wistful BBC comedy.

  • extras :):):) such a good song, i love it

  • I agree with mikki!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • A fantastic song!!!........ But what does it mean?

  • @irisnsc

you sound like jack from the nightmare before christmas. :P

  • not very good

  • Extras <3 Great tune

  • excellent!!

  • This is so great. I wish it was longer. :-D

  • It's short & to the point 4 a reason.

    Listen 2 it again...........

  • My fave part of this song is actually the beginning and the ending just the way it's done and how it sounds :)

  • its a crime how short this song is! no wonder bush ppl put him on the no fly list! lol

  • @willwkrueger no shit the length is definitely criminal

  • 0:30 best it

  • didnt that coldplay guy sing this song at the end of the episode he was in?

i don't like his voice much, but it made me wonder why bowie didn't sing the one at the end of his episode, i'd love to hear that one...

anyhooo, great song for a great comedy

best of all is merchant in my opinion, that huge smile on his face when he sees andy's friend from school hit on a woman

  • I also heard this song during the credits roll on Extras. Very Melodious and melancholy as it begins. Captures every ending in Extras ending perfectly, which by the way is an amazing watch. Too bad it is just a minute long!

  • yae gervais and merchant are pretty amazing

  • ................................ :)

  • Watching Extras and heard this song at the end, couldnt help but recognise Yusuf's voice (or Cat's voice whatever way people want it XD)
