I know he's had his demons, but Scott Hall has always been a class act. Proof of that is right here. He was glad to help his buddy Sean Waltman advance his career.
This was the talk of the schoolyard when it happened. It was unheard of that a jobber would beat a guy in the midst of a big push just like that. Of course, I knew who The Kid was from his days in Global but I kind of likened him to the long list of guys that were stars in the regional territories to only get their clocks cleaned in the WWF
@concertconfess2011 , Same here I watched him on GWF. I was all so suprised at the time he was in the WWE since he was so skinny and didn't have the look or body that WWF wanted from their wrestlers. this was at the time when WWF was moving away from the big muscled guys.
this was probally one of the best gimmicks ever done by the WWF. Sean was portrayed as a jobber and with no warning...bam gets the pin.
Having a "jobber" win back then was almost unheard of especially in the WWF who hard a hard on for big muscle bound guys. Light heavy weights (and there were some greats in the world at this time) rarely got the time of day. After seeing watching this live all these years, this still sticks out in my mind.
@itsameray yep and I remember being in shock that they let a jobber get over my I even remember my dad saying uh oh that ref is in deep trouble cause it isn't suppose to happen like that...
This was so awesome because you always expected the unknown guy to lose and the superstar to win. (duh). A huge upset was exactly what was needed at the time.
@nabstra That's exactly how Monday Night Raw got started. The WWF wanted a more intimate setting for this show as opposed to their Superstars and Challenge shows in larger arenas, hence, the early Raw shows were done at the Manhattan Center.
I remember this like yesterday sadly. Afterwards Razor Ramon asked for a rematch with a bag of money on the line and then 123 Kid beat him again. The product that is on tv currently is not the same that we grew up on people.
This was one of the great moments in Raw history. Well, Raw has had MANY great moments. But this is one of the best moments from Raws first few years.
this raw was the night of upsets...the 123 kid defeats razor ramon, marty janetty beat shawn michaels for the ic belt...(with some help from mr perfect)
@Gregamania69 Which is why matches or moments such as these made that downtime bearable.1993 was when RAW debuted and pro wrestling was shown live on TV for the first time.
Head Sean Waltman/Syxx/X-Pac/1-2-3 Kid debuted like this today,he'd have won either the I-C Title or even the WWE Title, for all the prestige and respect the current crop of writers seem to give the championships in this day and age.
@edjr672 Sean Waltman had sure shot himself in the foot with drugs, that's for sureShawn Michaels,on the other hand, had rose above drugs and alcohol when he found Jesus.A classic example of how religion can save a man's life, let alone career.
@edjr672 On the other hand,Shawn Michaels might have potentially saved his life when he found Jesus, let alone his career.A classic example of how religion can be used as a positive.
@cavspunk08 Right, midcard wrestling. That's ridiculous. Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, Harley Race, Terry Funk, The Road Warriors, Sting, 4-Horsemen, Magnum TA. Not to mention pretty much every wrestler that ever became a star in the WWF including guys like Steamboat, Rude, Muraco, Piper, Snuka, Roberts, etc. who were stars in the NWA before they ever came to the WWF. NWA was so much better than the WWF which was nothing but a cartoon geared toward kids. Not surprising you would think that.
@danteras23 Vince McMahon had made a mockery out of the careers of most of whom you mentioned here. That is,most of whom tested the waters of WWF.It had been as if they never existed in a previous wrestling promotion once they got there.
@skruuge 1993 was serious down time in pro wrestling, but Monday Night Raw proved to be one of the diamonds found in a lump of coal that is still going strong 17 years later.
These were the days when I'd come home from school, grab my WWF bar from the icecream truck and wait until Monday night raw came on. It's crazy how they held Monday Night Raw in this small venue! The good days of WWF!
one of not so many matches that Ramon did the job. Eventually, everything that spin from this moment on made him wayy more money! but seriously watch the count you can see Ramon did plan to loose.
Fast Forward almost 3 years to the day and Razor debuts on Nitro to start the greatest wrestling angle in Pro Wrestling history. Can't believe it's been 14 years since the nWo debuted...
I remember watching this... wasnt this for 10,000 dollars or something.... HA HA Razor taking off his chains " ANYTHING HAPPENS TO THIS HAPPENS TO YOU CHICO." Great times
