Half of the thrillers and mysteries that have come out since Hitch's work don't have a tenth of the atmosphere and ingenuity that his does. This is unequivocally master filmmaking.
Why would you find blackface offensive? It IS history! Thats what happened. Everybody's got a chip on their shoulder. There's nothing anyone can do anymore without offending someone.
Cute movie but it was a bit hard as an American to get around the heavy accents and the lingo of that period. I think I was able to catch about 80% of what was said. Nevertheless, it was worth watching.
This was made 10,000 years ago before Hitchcock started making serious films with serious actors. You can almost sleep through this utterly forgettable stuff with amateur actors.
Alfred Hitchcock has done it again. I absolutely enjoy anything he produced. He doesn't ever fail to put a twist. Young and Innocent, and Blackmail are other good films.

The film was abut the first completed at the then brand new Pinewood Studios, and the famous tracking shot was done in the biggest set they had built by then. It was rehearsed many times, but they say only two takes were made, with the crew driven hard by Hitchcock to get it right. It worried the actors badly during shooting, he just had to get it right for the ending to work.
I do wish people wouldn't blame uploaders when they have problems playing a video. It's rarely if ever anything to do with the uploader. This video for instance is an excellent copy and works perfectly. My thanks to openflix for uploading one of Hitch's best early movies, one which foreshadows in so many ways later classics such as The 39 Steps.

@galenmark I fully agree. To stop showing such stuff is to rewrite history and pretend it never happened. Just like in Orwell's 1984.

Liked the movie, but found the hotel band, with blackface on offensive.
