  • I think federer has a prettier backhand...im not h8in on gasquet tho, he still has a nice bh :]

  • Dude slays it.

  • No doubtsssss

  • I still think that RF's better, but overall RG's bh is really impressive ...

  • wow I have the best backhand in tennis...but I cant win any slams....haha stupid gasquet....

  • What a strange racquetback, all the way over the head and racquet face looking up. I think he does that to avoid turning his racquet face towards the back fence, his shot is shallow in this sense. This should cause less "slapping" on the ball and more topspin. Meeting the ball at the right point seems hard, making this an idiosyncratic shot, not something to imitate IMO.

  • @antonarap definitely something to replicate, if possible

  • What grip is he using?

  • Fernando, best forehand Richard best 1h backhand Roddick Best serve Nadal's footwork and 2 handed backhand, Santoros slices, Why is federer number 1? he doesnt really have anything thats number one in the game except for his brain. Hes a genius! O.O

  • @almondavid i laike nadal, but the nalbandian´s backhand or murray backhand arre better than nadal.bes forehand¿fernando? you want to say fernando verdasco right?

  • @almondavid errr,well,fed is an all rounder.

He's a jack of all trades but a master of none.

  • @KaminariKatta no he's definitely a master of the forehand

  • Gasquet has a strong 1 hand backhand but federer has better angle

  • yeah. Gasquet has more control when it comes to a backhand.

But let me ask you people a question.

Can he do a full strech flick and return it as a passing shot like roger does every time.? haha

  • @TeaTZsciZZorZ ummmm yeh man he can. he gets more angle than federer does... and roger doesnt do it everytime... hes human he does miss sometimes

  • best backhand

  • Gasquet is my favorite player (I'm finally going to see him in a slam this year), but it looks like he hits the balls with a sweeping side-to-side motion, how is he getting all this topspin without a low to high motion?

  • gasquet's backhand is one of the most exciting strokes to watch on today's tennis.

  • Looks like maybe an eastern backhand grip

  • I can't remember what tournament I was watching, but the commentator was like Gasquet is one of the few that will run around a forehand to hit the backhand. Good stuff!

  • @bitterbeerman88 heheh i do it too !

  • Well there is more to backhand than just a long prep and , Gasquet's backhand is too fancy for his own good , look at the way Federer's small prep lets him engage the half volleys or even the balls behind his body with relative ease , and one most important shot which noobs ignore is the backhand slice and that my friends no one hits better than Federer .

  • @powerslavenegi I totally agree with you my friend ! :D

  • @powerslavenegi perhaps but at the end of the day gasquets backhand is still heads and tails above feds its way consistent has more spin and especailly since he has a more extreme grip high balls are like gifts a a basket but then again if fed had a more extreme grip on his backhand his backhand would be better off but who knows i guess

  • I guess the reason why fanboys say Gasquet has the best BH is he does not have a FH worth emulating , it is absurd to say his BH is better than federer's a fancy prep and long back swing does not mean a good BH , accuracy , consistency and power are what matter the most and Federer's BH has all these attributes its just that his FH is monstrous and overshadows his BH.

  • @powerslavenegi Gasquet's backhand is more accurate, consistent and much more powerfull than Federer's, therefore it's better.

  • @theocho3 Except Gasquet does not hug the baseline and take the ball on the rise nearly as much as Federer.

  • Gasquet's backhand is the best one handed in the game.

  • You've gotta be kidding.

  • @tuber123asd Oh really, who do suggests is better, because I guarantee you go to any real tennis discussion with people who know about real technique then they will tell you that Gasquet's backhand is the best in the game.

  • @martiniho12 Without appealing to some imaginary outside authority to settle this debate, I'm going to say Federer's is better. How are you even defining "better?" Harder? Faster? More versatile? Prettier?

  • @tuber123asd Talk tennis made by tennis warehouse go look it up, now for your second question Gasquets backhand is better as he is more consistant and relaxed, he has a good balance between control and power, now im not saying Federers backhand is bad it is almost as good as Gasquets but Federer lashes at the ball alot and also shanks to ball out or into the net.

  • gasqust uses a continental grip

  • no, its an eastern backhand grip AKA western forehand grip

  • a wild, crazy backhand, ..rip from the back...and letting it fly...how come this only work in practice for me :) this dude is awesome...:)

  • NiggeliNG, I have a very similar ohbh to Gasquet's and I use a mild eastern, extreme eastern. Gasquets backhand grip must be either the same as I use, or an extreme eastern, but definitely not a sw grip.

  • I'm trying to copy this backhand but I still haven't fully figured out if it's a full eastern or a western grip. Someone help?

  • Comment removed

  • It's like he's going to hit a slice at first with that high take back

  • Great stroke....What I have noticed with Gasquets backhand is the higher takeback adding more loop to the swing.

  • I know its one of the best backhands in the game, but I just don't like it. It's so big. I like federer's backhand more. It's more compact.

Probably lot of you ppl think I'm talking shit xD

  • naw I agree, federer's backhand has more grace imo

  • I don't think you're talking shit at all, I agree with you about Fed's backhand being more compact and reliable. However Gasquet's backhand can be more spectacular to watch and when he's on, it's probably a bigger weapon for him than it is for Fed.

  • Nope. According to many french players he's like the Marat Safin of France. A huge player

  • do you have paul henri mathieu's forehand in slomo? his is nice too, so is igor andreev's

  • this slow mo vid is realy helpful, wish there were Sampras strokes and serves also.

  • his backhand is much heavier than his forehand i think...

  • Dude, they say Gasquet has 1 of the best backhands in the game...

  • he has thee best back hand in the game you're probably terrible yourself.

  • somebody who knows nothing about tennis should be quiet.

  • gasquet definitely best one handed backhand.

  • Look how he starts his swing and it just gains so much power and momentum coming down and then just explodes on the ball. Its amazing

  • imo gasquet has the best one-hander in the game. it's sick.

  • My favorite part of this video is 0:38...even as he moves backwards his upper body is trying to go forward.

  • @FYB2007 him and Federer ... Gasquet's bh is beautiful, technically flawless, RF still utilizes his to produce some unbelievably sick winners ...

  • Personally, I think Gasquet and Nalbandian have underrated backhands. They deserve more credit

  • They're not underrated at all.

Their backhands are always near the top in lists of the best backhands. And rightfully so.

Their bh's are the most beautiful shots in the game, especially Gasquet's.
