denzel says "my man" all the time, not just in this movie (along with soem other sayings). honestly, i think that denzel is a terrific actor, but before i can place him among the greast i need to see more versatility. i want to see him do different roles. his persona is the same in almost every movie, or at least roughly the same.
@KrfNYC2 i see what you're saying, but i think this was a completely different turn on denzel's typical roles... plus i don't think he wants to do anything "light hearted" or anything cause that would distort his image, it might dumb it down a bit.. everything he does is legendary, i don't think he would jepradise his status just to appear in a comedy like american pie or something lol
Come on man, look at his roles in Remember the Titans, Training Day, and Malcom X. I mean Clint Eastwood is the man, but doesn't he play the same character in all his movies?
@superbro950 To a certain extent yes. Clint is a cast type as well, although he's more praised for his directing. In all of those movies Denzel played characters with similar demeanors: confident, aggresive, manly, cool, well-spoken and so on.
