It does ok, I've seen worse. Nice configuration, where do you get a motherboard with 2 processors these days? is is 2 x celeron running at 450Mhz each or 2 x celerons running at 225MHz each, even if that does sound strange I thought I would ask.
funny that your run of the mill shitty sempron beats this thing no prob. just shows how far things have come. i have a athlon 64 x2 5000+. prob gonna spend my income tax on a 965 c3
fun to see this system again. In 1999, my system consisted of a 2 Celeron 500 mhz with a Matrox G 400 Max and 256 PC 133 VCM RAM from Kingston. and I used Windows 2000.
The Mendocino Celerons were the only ones that were SMP capable and this board took advantage of that. Not sure of the 450 Mhz part but they ranged from 300 to 533 MHz.
OK there were 450 mhz, I can tell you that there was. back in 99 my system consisted of a Celeron a system with 2x 500 mhz, and the existence and a 450 mhz Celeron a and a 300 mhz
Celeron was a basert on a p3 coppermine and there for you can use 2 CPUs
Dude, I recommend you not to trust the Maxtor hard drives because of the enormous problems thay are fated, I mean the head crashes, sudden stopping and related. So be careful.

This is quite good what you did with your twin socket 370 celeron 450mhz cpu's.
That just goes to show everybody that hates the celeron and likes the sempron, that amd will never get there sempron pull some tricks be truly dual core with low end celerons that can 90% of the time match it's big brothers on OS a few games and mostly never given to multitasking when the computer user needs it the most!
Well shit, that aint half bad. Did you have to make any kind of OS tweaks to get better overall performance? Are single-threaded applications crappy? Also holy crap your machine is loud with those fans, shizzz
my first computer was a 500mhz celeron and it was like intel i7 today ! now i've got a quad.... good old times with windows millenium an GTA 1.. it was funnier than now
no they advisting 15 gb free space for installation and a total hdd space o 20 gb i do this test in a virtual pc with vista on 1 day i had no space left
The requirement isn't necessarily a technical one, just the one Microsoft recommends (and even that's too low). I've run it on 256 MB of RAM and a 500 Mhz Pentium III.
for those who arent familiar with this motherboard, the BP6 has the Intel 440BX chipset. It was designed to run dual celeron CPUs. The VP6 which I have has a VIA chipset, high RAM support and 133FSB Coppermine support, not to mention serious overclocking capabilities.
hahha you probably haven't heard about hacked bios with custom cpu support.
I've killed my asus p2b-ds board by accident, but before I did, I was running hl2 faster than my friend's netburst pentium4 2.0ghz. I had a geforce 5200 (overclocked) and almost a gig of ram, good times.
thats pretty cool, but what will it do ? My P3 has 850mhz and 512 ram. It will run aero, dreamscene, burn dvds, I am trialing office 2007 and works well. I can get a 300mmx with 512 to start vista, then take out 256 and start, but it is seless. Weneed to show "usefll" computers to give poor people with P3s enough information to make an informed dicission, not just lay games with smoke and mirrors. I can also download @ 156 KB/s it is as fast a any computer on the net.
The video card won't die after 60 days. That was an opinion. What I recommend for a graphics card for Windows Vista is at least a graphics card with 64MB vRAM, such as an ATI RADEON X200 or nVidia Ge-Force 6100. The two are some of the most lowest end graphics cards, BUT, they will support Aero just fine.
I have an ATI RADEON X1100 with 64MB vRAM and it supports Aero like nothing! You did see my custom Compaq Presario then right? Then you should already know lol.

There is a version of Windows Vista Ultimate Lite that will run on alot of low end machine no problem. Like anything, if you know how to tweak your operating system, you'll never need the max amount of memory.
not true. windows vista ultimate lite still has all the graphical features but has taken all un needed things out like administrative permission to run a program etc..
Yes, I know. But, you can disable the themes and the extra eye candy, and it will run just fine as a basic operating system and do pretty what you need to do on it. Trust me, I have experimented loads(I have a shop to myself with many work stations, fun stuff.) with all the diff builds, and I usually get some interesting results. :D
once again with 900mhz !!! VISTA DON´T recognize SECOND CPU ONLY SEE ONE. IT´s OLD HARDWARE THAT VISTA DON´t like. AND YES IS VISTA, NOT XP.
Wow, I usually had lots of BSOD-s on that mainboard on XP SP2 and couldnt run it properly. And you put Vista on an antedeluvian hardware that was intended to run Windows 2000 or NT 5.1
At least I see that he has a really good video card and lots or RAM, since vista has LOTS of graphical effect you can have an old computer, but if you install lots of ram and a really good ati or nvidia graphics card in its agp slot you will have a pretty descent fast vista running there.
it could be, but if you have a multiple core cpu go to task manager, processess right click on one of them and click set affinity, you only have a option for up to 31 cores but only the amount you have arent greyed out
XP Home supports only 1 physical CPU, but multiple logical CPU's (Hyper Threading or dual cores). XP Professional recognizes up to 2 sockets and multiple cores. My Athlon 64 X2 runs on XP Home and it recognizes both cores.
Honestly, I'm amazed that Vista was actually usable on that dual-core celery setup. I installed it, for kicks, on a single P3-800 with an AGP nVidia 6600 video card and 768 MB of RAM, and it was maybe about 2/3rds that speed at best.
that took 2mins to boot!

Wow, I usually had lots of BSOD-s on that mainboard on XP SP2 and couldnt run it properly. And you put Vista on an antedeluvian hardware that was intended to run Windows 2000 or NT 5.1
Awesome.

At least I see that he has a really good video card and lots or RAM, since vista has LOTS of graphical effect you can have an old computer, but if you install lots of ram and a really good ati or nvidia graphics card in its agp slot you will have a pretty descent fast vista running there.

i am not sure, but only vista ultimate can see 2 physical processors. And windows xp
Ixeon659 3 years ago
Nope, all Windows Vista editions sees more than 1 physical CPU, and Windows XP Pro. XP Home only supports 1 core, 1 physical CPU.
lhuser 3 years ago
xp home supports unlimited cores, my firend has a quad and xp home, and it works with it fine
Ixeon659 3 years ago
Actualy xp only supports 31 cores.
denrocks2 3 years ago
32 cores
Ixeon659 3 years ago
it could be, but if you have a multiple core cpu go to task manager, processess right click on one of them and click set affinity, you only have a option for up to 31 cores but only the amount you have arent greyed out
denrocks2 3 years ago
look carefully, you forgot to count core #0
Ixeon659 3 years ago 2
dang i never thought of counting 0, i thought there was something wrong with a odd number like 31
denrocks2 3 years ago
XP Home supports only 1 physical CPU, but multiple logical CPU's (Hyper Threading or dual cores). XP Professional recognizes up to 2 sockets and multiple cores. My Athlon 64 X2 runs on XP Home and it recognizes both cores.

Honestly, I'm amazed that Vista was actually usable on that dual-core celery setup. I installed it, for kicks, on a single P3-800 with an AGP nVidia 6600 video card and 768 MB of RAM, and it was maybe about 2/3rds that speed at best.
