  • Hmm you forgot to cover a few parts, hat should not be sprayed by water.

  • Just dump a can of seafoam on that shit

  • Alloy Wheel Cleaner?!!

    Fuckin' IDIOT!!

  • He may just crack the alu-mi-nee-um with the cold water...

  • it's not cleaner... just wet

  • Once its dry again it becomes dirty as a result.

  • NO not the distributor cap too!!!! LOLOL!!

  • Should of At least Cover the Distributor and battery.

  • I did this once.. And that was today... Is my car fucked now?:(

  • i think i will just keep my motor dirty

  • I used to work at a car detailers, we degreased and pressuree washed every engine. Never had any problems or thrown codes. But stay away from the distributor unlike this retard.

  • Never spray a engine with water!. Just asking for trouble! Cant believe he did that!!

  • you said start high... then you did the hood last!!!

  • thats why u use a piece of shit car that doesnt go now youve fucked it.

  • great vid, one thing...whats the solution you use in the p/w? i buy 5 or 6 gallon pales from the truck wash stations. btw, most of these are unducated opinions for the most part. used car dealers clean under the hood and engine before they hit the lot and transport truck service/wash stations also wash the engine with a solution. i do this on my own vehicles and never have any problems. damn you tube mechanics...troll, porn, troll, porn, troll repeat.

  • still looks dirty...

  • The engine is made to get wet, if u hit puddles it grts wet, if u drive in rain it gets wet...ther bottom of the engine is exposed. Long as u dont soak the car, youll be fine. A spray with degreaser and then a quick rinse itll be ok. Id leave the car off, degrease use a small brush then turn the car on and rinse. Itll be fine

  • what the f is this shit!?

  • @tallica4us The Engine is a 'Honda'... and would clock up GALATIC mileage... best left well enough alone..... apart from a service....

  • TERRIBLE VIDEO AND TERRIBLE ANNOUNCER.

  • sooner put wasps up my arse, water will get into every little connection and bit of loom and corrode it, and thats just the wiring, not counting for the water forced into electrical systems ect.... no thanks, ill stick to spending a couple of hours on a weekend with a microfibre... after all, isnt that what looking after yiour car is about?

  • i thought you are surpose to cover the distibuter cap

  • to cool down the engine, pour water into the oil case

  • i dont think its as bad as what everyone makes it out to be... sure im not gonna use my karcher on my car but when i was a kid we had a GQ model 4.2l TI petrol nissan patrol and we drove it through creeks and all when we went off road. i dont think we ever completely submerged the engine bay but i know we got it half way up a few times.... brilliant car never ever broke.

  • never spray cold water on a hot engine

  • The "Easy Way" is usually the worst way to work on a car. Trust me, my dad does that, and it's no good.

  • ive always cleaned my engine bays like this and never has giving me problems, i used to work for a car detailing place and this is how it was done. With the engine running.

  • distributor cap and alternator should be COVERED!!!! AAAAAHHH!!!!

  • ahahaha what a fucking retard

  • Wait until the bay is all dry too see the real results how it looks. Anything looks good when you wet it down . I cleaned suff up years even Engine Bays and it still does not look that great after it dries .

  • Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy... GAY!

  • i bet he didnt even put a bag atleast on the alternator -.- 2 days later... OMG corosion!! = On the side of the road

  • I'd never do this with my car. Rather clean bit by bit just to be on the safe side :)

  • That's a fail,good thing your washing a peace of shit

  • Karcher sucks

  • A destroyed engine bay is my result

  • A little WD40 can solve any wet dist. cap worries...

  • @ericv1984 I'm not saying its a 'good idea' to spray cold water onto a hot engine.. But I've dunked both my air cooled and liquid cooled motors in cold river water when they were blazing hot countless times on my dirt bikes. Hell my air cooled bike hits over 300°F.

Even had my sport bike out in a down pour countless times...

Btw why is everyone saying anything about him putting cold water on a hot engine? He never said "warm it up first".. And it's not steaming, so its clearly not hot.

  • I use tyre foam shine on my engine, makes all the rubbers and hoses look brand new but only spray it on when engine is cool

  • omg why would you ever do that!!!!!! dont ever clean your engine like that! get off your butt and hand wash it.

  • Never ever clean your engine bay this way you need to plastic off all electrical before ever pressure washing an engine just buy a held held steam cleaner and take 30mins and your done

  • and a fucked engine is the result...

  • How to fuck your electrical systems . High pressure water

  • dam why not just drive the thing into a river.

  • jesus this is so fucking wrong! High pressure water shouldn't be used at ALL in an engine bay. Alternator and coils should be cover

  • good work

  • a-li-min-yum

  • he says "do not spray around sparkplugs" as he is soaking them babies down. lol. i think i will pass. i would rather have a dirty engine then a non working one

  • just to eliminate all these Wives-tales, a distributor cap is a old and mechanical way of controling the ignition timing GM still used this kind of set up until late 90's most imports in 80's. If your car over heats and you pour water over it, then yes your cyl heads will crack.

  • This car does not have a "distributor cap" unless the car was beyond its recomended operation temperature pouring cold water over it will not crack the cylinder heads the amount of water in the engine bay is no more then driving through a heavy rain storm for maybe a hour, i wouldnt use a high pressure hose, because it might knock stuff louse but other then that your method of cleaning the engine is okay

  • @lmp1054 What do you mean it doesn't have a distributor cap? The spark plug wires are going right into the distributor cap.... Honda's didn't adapt coil on plug until a LOT later then this car was produced.

  • Comment removed

  • i did that spray once it says to run the car

  • Water on the distributor?

  • Huh? That firewall still looks filthy! Getting things wet makes it look glossy, which is perceived as being cleaner, but not-so-close inspection reveals you've basically nothing here. You'd be better off with a foaming engine degreaser, low/no pressure rinse, followed by foaming tire cleaner/dressing, Keep the pressure washer for the hood liner and stubborn brake dust on the rims.

  • Guy guys, chill its on a honda... Let the dumbass destroy his motor.

  • @drewbrees111 yeah since it lasts longer than a 2000 ford, gmc, or dodge. give it to a white dude who doesnt know how to take care or clean their car to destroy a honda.

  • tehn you wanna take your hose and put if down the intake MAF turn on your car if it dies you know the inside of your car is clean.

  • "Be careful not to spray too much around any electrical connecters, spark plugs, distributor, or fuel injections." *Sprays Electrical connecters, spark plugs, distributor, and fuel injections with massive amount of water*

  • I thought you had to cover stuff up before you spray?

  • same car as mine! mines clean though

  • I will admit the engine bay appears to be cleaner, but the real question is, will it run the way it is supposed to?

  • Ha jokes on you, my car doesn't have a check engine light!

  • When I wash my engine I don't cover up anything, I use a water blaster and a garden hose, I could sit there for hours holding the hose on the Alternator. And it always starts up like it would of back when it left the factory.

  • so wait, u said to start at the top, but after washing the bay u then washed under the hood making all the dirt fall back on the engine...

  • Is it really that difficult to pronounce the word aluminum?

And as everyone else has said yes this is a great way to screw up your vehicle!

  • better to buy some waterless engine dressing and clean the shit off, if ur car is old and leaking oil and u go ahead and attempt to clean the engine off u will remove grime that is caked on and is acting as a gasket that is stopping leaks, o ye, never spray cold water on a hot engine, u can use engine degreaser while the engine is warm, not hot, cause that stuff can be flammable

  • lol canadia

  • I just bought an Acura Integra and some fool used this same routine to clean it up before I purchased it. I'm dealing with electrical problems now. Pressure washing your engine is just plain stupid! It should be outlawed.

  • wtf

  • The description should be: "You want to learn how to fuck up your car completely, but don't know how? Watch this video and i'll teach you."

  • ur supposed to cover electrical shizz with bags

  • Should be renamed "Cleaning Your Engine Bay the STUPID Way"

  • Best way to completely fuck up your car. Great job.

  • @FatMattInAHat yea this guy does NOT know what he was doing

  • This video should be removed.

  • I love getting fuel injectors, air sensors, air filter and dizzy cap n rotor soaking wet. Why have a hood? I love dumping water on the battery and electrical connections

  • spraying cold water on a hot running engine is a good way to crack the Al You Mini Um.

  • @waterkeeper03 You drive in the rain. :unamused:

  • @carveriscool driving in the rain doesn't saturate your manifolds to this extent :unimpressed:

  • @waterkeeper03 eh, not as easy to crack it as you might think.

Otherwise I'd be screwed every time I run my dirt bike hard as hell for a hour, then cross a river that half submerges my engine! Both air cooled and water cooled engines.

  • @Towlieee eh, except that the components on a bike are built to deal with the elements under hard running circumstances and the engine of a car isn't supposed to be wet.

160 I consider running hot on my 250 and I can run it up to the intake standing in a river. my car idle run temp is higher than 160 but I don't recommend putting the manifold under water.

  • @waterkeeper03 If your 250 is liquid cooled, it's running temp is likely somewhere in the 170-190 range (could even be 160), but that's just the point the thermostat opens and it's fully warmed. I don't know what bike you have, but it likely runs between 180-220 water temp while riding. Maybe dropping below 180 when babying it, and possibly breaking 220 when riding it hard.

Air cooled bikes get a lot hotter. They are at running temp around 180ish, but easily will hit 250-300f when rode hard.

  • @waterkeeper03 Don't get me wrong though, I am definitely not saying to put cold water on a hot engine... Just that often times it wont harm anything. I do get nervous myself every time I cross a creek after running my bike hard and my oil is in the 250-300 range

  • what about the intake air filter???should i cover it with a bag??

  • @glocksterm if its exposed i would say yes. Stock intakes are usually in a box

  • o.O the distributor cap is not suppose to get wet...

  • @j2dun it can get wet to a point, if it does, take blow drier to it and pull all caps off and dry it. Anything in engine can get wet except inside of cylinders as liquids dont compress. what do you think happens when it rains

  • @rangerrunner11 ok, thanks for that advice. but should i worry about the cylinders? i mean they're pretty much covered right?

  • @j2dun its called an internal combustion engine for a reason haha, yes the piston, injectors and similar parts are throughly covered. Just dont get to aggressive with the sprayer and youll be set. low power low aggresion = happy engine

  • @j2dun what do u think happen when it raining?( and you use your car) it's get wet ....

  • @oORaveNOo It usually has a cover on it so you don't get it wet. But generally speaking you don't want to get it wet, as it is high voltage. I honestly wouldn't risk it, I would leave the car off until it dries.

  • A general purpose degreaser like Simple Green or CD2 Engine Cleaner over the entire engine bay would work better. Apply it, let it soak in for a few minutes, bush the grimy areas, and then LOW pressure rinsing. High pressure is just a bad idea in a modern engine bay, no matter how careful you are.

  • should you keep the car running ??

  • @insertblackname You dont have to, but you can if it makes you feel more comfortable.

  • @DecibelCar What if its' carbuereted with an open air breather?

  • @BlaineRice

use a condom to clog it : )

  • @DecibelCar lol, nice one. i kept mine running to make me feel more at home.

  • @DecibelCar has to be off, because when you will spray the foam on the HOT parts of the engine like the intake manifold, valve covers,...etc that foam will stain where is hot. The engine has to be cold, and spraying cold water on a hot engine you can crack the manifold or other hot parts.

best way to clean your engine, steam washer.
