  • Question: What is this "Wye" that everyone is talking about?

  • Back in 2003, CP utilized the pushers while one of the tunnels on the Mac line was being repaired. Used 4 AC 4400's. Would have been a cool sight to see.

  • 10 locomotives for 111 coal cars!!

  • Sweet sweet music!!

  • I wish CP would set aside a weekend in the middle of summer to allow fans just one more opportunity to see this again. The sights and sounds are breathtaking. It would be a hit! Do it while there are still enough SD40-2's around!

We should start a petition. Retirees could run the pusher trains and the company could still use the Mac Track for revenue trains. Maybe sell tickets with the revenue going to a good cause? I don't think the idea is that far fetched.

  • @UncleLarrysVault Interesting idea! Gotta a gut feeling , though, the CPR would resist decisively. For one thing, the infrastructure might not be there anymore (like the wye).

  • @Shaysteamjamb .... Hi Guys, yes that would be cool!! I'd buy a ticket for sure. A great idea but CP would never go for it at all. I know hoggers inside. The high brass want nothing to do with rail history, as evident with 2816 slowly breaking down. Enough of me on my soap box. Myself and a close friend walked into the Wye at Rogers last summer and it's still there!!! yaaaaa!!! Took many pictures from many angles. Truly a awesome piece of Canadian Railroad history.

  • Awsome, thanks for that, great video!

  • @formidable38 You're welcome! Thanks for the comment.

  • Emd baby!!!! great video 5*

  • @Learnin2Fly08 Thanks!

  • Wow, this is very Impressed, eight Helpers? we many tons have the train? more as 14000?

  • @EddieMcDonald81 15,000 tons for a coal train was common at the time.

  • i always liked the pac-man logo.

  • I never cared for it at first. Now I miss it!

  • CP and SP have a lot in common here!! EIGHT helpers? Wow!

    Great catch! ;)

  • this is cool!! :)

  • A little more history. Thanks for sharing. Curious to know why only 2 units on the head end. Usually there are 4 on the head end sometimes only three, but I've never seen only 2. That guy either had a smaller tonnage train for whatever reason or something else odd going on. He was going pretty slow when he hit the hill also. My guess is he was going slower than the usual 15 mph also. I have some footage also I am going to post when I get around to it. Great entertainment. Thanks again.

  • Your welcome!

The two units at the point was a disappointment. It would have been nice if there was the usual four. Never did find out why there was only two.

  • Chances are it was a smaller and lower tonnage coal train.

  • Routinely cp would put 2 more units on the head end at Golden to assist on the westward movement then they would be cut at at chase bc. This practice ended when the grade reduction project at Notch hill was completed in the early 80's.The pushers would be cut in at the wye just east of station name sign Rogers and would cut at at the east storage track switch Stoney creek.

  • i lost count of them, i'll try again.

  • Great video, thanks for sharing it.

    Cheers

    Andrew

  • Nope! Was hoping you would tell me.
