  • i actually have this - it's pretty good but i wouldn't say it's the best freestyle comp ever it's definitely missing some classics

  • I wudda died for this when I was 8 years old, now I really want this. These were THE songs of your life if you were young, Puerto Rican and lived anywhere in NY in the 80's. I can smell the coffee and Hair Food now...

    technoman2rdjfm aka dj nocturnal

  • Freestyle is still very much alive

  • i still rock my boombox on the streets with some freestyle

  • Specifically, Freestyle's true roots are traced back to Soul Sonic Force's "Planet Rock" (1982) and Shannon's "Let the Music Play", which debuted in 1983. It was also influenced by sampling, as found in hip hop music. Freestyle reached its peak in the early 1990s before it began to fall in popularity and was slowly replaced by burgeoning house music.

Do your research BEFORE YOU DISRESPECT, jagoff.

  • Its good to see people as yourself taking time out to write against the music we love! It just shows that FreeStyle has alot of critisism against! Which is great because anything that is of good material gets hate once in a while! Look at how many people love FreeStyle, a genre that supposedly died in the 90's is still strong with new productions every now and then! And its the love that people have for FreeStyle thats keeping it alive, without support from the mainstream!

  • @TheRemedyRocks...

Dude please compared to the UTTER GARBAGE that you probably listen too....I LAUGH at your comment.

  • I listen to a lot of classic rock, old soul music and a few new bands. but those new bands usually play more retro music

  • Freestyle or Latin Freestyle, also called Latin Hip Hop in its early years, is a form of electronic music which emerged in the early 1980s and declined around the early 1990s.

The music first developed primarily in New York City and Miami in the early 1980s. Initially, it was a fusion of the vocal styles found in 1970s disco music with the syncopated, synthetic instrumentation of 1980s electro, as favored by fans of breakdancing.

  • I love the 80's!

  • I grew up listening to this music and it sounds real good to this day. A lot of radio stations in my area used to play this kind of music.

  • what song is 1:23

  • "Diamond Girl" by Nice N Wild.

  • In this compilation appears I a dream rockell's video 1:42 , I'd like to see this one on here

  • Great music, even here, in Romania ... even I didn't know it was called freestyle, 20years ago ... I used to listen to top 100 on the radio, we listen and recorded music on big audio systems (magneto-phones, u know .... ) love this music. Now, we have house music, but it's not the same ...

  • god what i wouldnt do to be back in the 80s. such an awesome decade growing up and listening to freestyle on my sister's radio while she was fringing her hair up with aquanet in the bathroom.

    Freestyle Forever!!

  • Ditto!!

  • My sister actually bought this..

and Ive never heard the CDs

  • ahh so this is freestyle... I thought it had to do with lyrical improvisation but this compilation proved me wrong.

  • @AnangoMagic The wikipedia entries for 'Freestyle Rap' and 'Freestyle Music' refer to two different things.

  • are u selling my beloved AMEE? My memories keeper, and i even come with some mixes never heard with this generation.......where are u from?

  • Missing a couple great artists,Denise Lopez,Safire,Cyhntia,Trinere,Will to power then you have a priceless possesion in your hands(But still a great compilation regardless)

  • 32 tracks on 2 cds is 16 on each, which means they're definitely not all going to be 12" extended mixes. Radio edits galore, probably.

  • I can really get down with them jams!

  • There's a video for Rockell - In a Dream? Somebody needs to upload it!

  • LOL The last I remember she was a manager at McDonalds........

    Frank Arias

  • oh yeah, i love this music. i shake my black ass to this all the time, and i am not african american. i just don't shower.

  • let you tell it, i gots the same problem. my wife saids she likes it dirty!!!!

  • come to think of it hers is just as black. oh big dirty bootie!!!

  • I can name three songs I can name that doesn't belong in that CD.

Either way I wish they bring freestyle back.

Brings back memories of my childhood.

  • I agree, we all need to go on strike or something to bring back 80's music, cause music nowadays just sucks.

    Somebody do something!!

  • Not really. Nowaday They do come out with great song but not to all. I still have some of my old cd I bought in 2000 in freestyle and I listen to them over and over again. But on the other hand I like heavy metal, hard rock, and anything remix sound good to me as well. From time to time freestyle the best for me.

  • Some of those songs aren't Freestyle, like "I Can't Wait" by Nu Shooz and

  • I really want to get this album. It has practically every song on it I love.

  • why do they call it "freestyle" it's not like they're improvising or anything

  • I don't think freestyle means improv in this case. It's still a great mystery why it's called Freestyle music, but it's still good music. In Europe, they have a dance music genre called Hi NRG.

  • It's freestyle because it's a mix of Latin,Club, R&B,Pop,Disco all rolled into one.

  • freestyle forever, bring back the movement

  • The radio station need to bring freestyle on air. I know I'll listen to it all day. To me freestyle is better then hip hop. It would be nice.

  • There is a station here in Arizona called "movin 97.5" that streams nationwide. Just type it in a google search and they play alot of freestyle. Sometimes they play crap like Fergie though but most of the time they will play some great freestyle and other great 80s and 90s music.

  • dam those were the days. it is kinda hard to find those songs, cds in stores

  • There is a collection called Freestyle Explosion Volumes 1-5. It has Everything

  • l0l'

    omg i love these songs

man i wish i can go back in the days again

i use to love Sweet Sensation

  • I want music to sound like this again come on guys bring back the 80s

  • SWEET! I can really get down with them jams!

  • you are crazy mutherfucker!
