I think it has to do with the di-electric properties of paper and how it interacts with human bio-electric fields. It's nothing new. This is the same thing tele-conesis vendors try to sell to unwitting power mongers.
A fraud? If ur definition of a fraudulent magic trick is one where there's a logical, scientifically explained, often just less than obvious answer, then, technically, all magic tricks are really frauds. Which they are, of course, definitely not.
BTW, to be a Perpetual Motion Machine it has to work without the magician using his hands. He quickly ended the trick as soon as he move his hands, in other words, he's not a very good magician, in other words, there's no such thing as a PMM.
hot air rises right? and he put a jar over it, trapping most of the air in. so maybe he like has a heat thingy or something and the hot air spins the pyramid because of the way he folded it.
He may have folded a tiny magnet in the paper. He's wearing long sleeves. He may have a stronger magnet tucked "up his sleeve". Notice that his hands make the moving motion but his wrists are closest to the paper. MABEY
stop trying to explain his tricks its more fun trying to figure it out yourself or just leaving it as it is just to have it as a question that remains with you. Nice trick Marco
It's simple black magic, folks. You may attempt to explain it through "science" and "logic", but you can't explain the works of the supernatural. This man is in league with the devil.
magnetised paper? beautiful. now that IS magic. Im not sure of hartmans explanation either. im not sure such a strong convection current would be occuring in the glass.and i dont think there is enough vapour either.
my guess is that it's in the way he folded the pyramid. maybe some sort of origami trick where the tension in the paper causes it to unfurl, and spin? i think his hands moving is just a red herring, and that the paper would spin regardless.
There is a very tiny magnet in the paper. The paper is multi-layer and was carefully split apart and the magnet sliver inserted. He got the magnetic sliver from a store security tag. You can see he moves his hands to nudge the magnet inside the paper along.
My god, you're all so blind. He is wearing a cashmere jumper which causes more static than normal jumpers/tops. Notice how he makes sure the edge of his sleeve get close ;-)
You are stupid. It has nothing at all to do with what he is wearing. It's just the heat from his hands which causes air currents under the glass which causes the paper to rotate. Anybody can do this if they set it up properly.
what about electrons moving around the nucleus of an atom, every thing is in motion, as a matter of fact, scientist have been trying to stop this motion for many years, by reaching absolute zero, but can't.
That wasn't perpetual motion...that was just telekinesis. If I make a ball circle in the air by waving my hands, is that considered perpetual motion now as well? No.
That physicist isn't an actor that's Dr. Michio Kaku a professor of theoretical physics at City College of New York. He got his BS at Harvard University and his Ph.D at UC Berkeley (where they discovered plutonium). I think he knows what he's talking about, Lulu1019.
Look at the light source. Hot air rises. Light heats vapor in air, put the glass over it and it creates a closed circut of moving heated vapor in the air, slight differences of light "moving hands" causes the rising heat to move the paper in different ways.
yea but those guys claim they are really moving it with their mind therefore telekinese. but yea thas just cuz their hands are warm, cuz if u put coffee or sum heated object around those spining things, they start to spin on their own.
He didn't put anything under the paper. If you wanna find out how he did it just do the exact same thing and i bet you could do it first try. There is no trick to it all you have to do is put the paper on something pointed, like a toothpick or pin.
Definition of Perpetual motion machine - a machine that can continue to do work indefinitely without drawing energy from some external source; impossible under the law of conservation of energy
it was a closed system so there was no way it can draw energy to spin the paper pyramid...then theres also no way a perpetual motion machine can exist
first of all the magnet's strength would mean it would have to be pretty big in size to pull it from that distance and another thing you watched him fold the paper... where is the metal?? hmm inside the thin piece of paper?
its probly the matches that causes it, that's why its is put back into the box.

probably heat rising, propelling the pyramid

it isent perpetual motion he probably did more Work Effort then the Work Load since his hands was putting out more Force then that of the paper

The system wasn't "absolutely closed" because heat from his hand could still get through the glass. I read about this trick in a science book.

Watch closely how the paper moves... it must be a small magnet hidden in the paper and another magnet in his wrist.
