Best movie scene I have ever scene !! It's funny because it shows us how annoying it was at school the way they used to teach the alphabet. But scenes like this are never shown at the Oscars because the judges don't appreciate comedies.
come on guys its not a British accent, he just sounds like an upper class Yank or a valley girl. Or dweezil zappas character in Duckman....there is no such thing as a generic british accent. Just remember to "put it IN the right file"
@SuperRichardNixon According to the writer, director, and himself he made up an accent to try to make himself sound more sofisticated around people. In the film he is a literary agent and he uses it a lot more around clients to try to portray himself as important, but when talking to people he is familiar with or unimortant in his life he does not use the accent as much.
I don't think he is trying to sound British that is just his Californian accent, he is from Long Beach and sounds like a beach bum to me until he gets mad of course.
His performance in this movie kind of reminds me of Christian Bale's performance in "American Psycho." That is, over the top but appropriate for the movie and frequently hilarious.
@danning1 This is actually the comparison I always tell people to draw after they finish watching Vampire's Kiss. I like to think of VK as a much "funnier" American Psycho due to the similar themes it deals with (and it was made before the book was even published).
@whitepaperbag I've never even seen thi movie, but have seen Bale in Psycho and was going to say the same thing. Fucking brilliant, genius acting I'd say
@psychopomp88: Cage is trying to put on a *fake* British accent. The character speaks that way to try to sound sophisticated, but can't keep it up when he gets angry.
I wish somebody could scenes when he's yelling ALVAAAAA!!!!!!!!! Lol

@danning1 I agree, YouTube uploaders seem to take this scene out of context and think Nicolas Cage is just being wacky for no reason.

is Cage trying to put on a British accent here?
