I was lucky enough to find this band at a festival in Fort Lauderdale around 2002. They blew my mind. JJ spoke up against the War in Afghanistan and Dubya.

Then I was lucky enough to see them opening for Ben Harper in Clearwater. Definitely my favorite Florida band...

God I love this song. It's weird that the lyrics are kind of maudlin, because this song makes me so happy. I'm from Brooklyn and have only been to Florida a handful of times on business so I've never even been out to a beach there. But there's something so unique about that peninsula you can feel it right away. And Mofro pay homage to that ineffable beauty so finely with their music that you yearn for it, even if you don't know exactly what it is.
