@Rhynoseiber It's sold as "rust remover" in any hardware store. I recomend you also buy a small flask with lid (it releases vapours). Just clean them manually as best as you can and then dip them in a solution for a period of 24 hours. The rust precipitates off the screws (you will notice residues accumulating near the top of the flask's lid). This method will remove the paint off the screws, in case they were to begin with.
I feel your pain. I had a water line break 3 weeks ago that pretty much took out some of my collection as well. Had to open most of the MIB stuff. It sucks. Still fixing my basement. Hope things will get better for you.
This is terrible, I am so sorry Ryan, this is a terrible thing to happen to such an amazing collector in the TF community. You have my deepest sympathies. I hope you are insured for damage like this. I shudder to think of how much money went into this.
Damn :( so you opened all of them ha ? are you still gonna keep the boxes ? Let them dry out and keep them ..hopefully they are still in a C5 condition.
Man those crickets or other bugs in the background sound crazy in this video. I know they get loud at night, but this sounds nights. Kind of makes it sound eerie. Yikes!
Shoot, man... Is that just clean water damage, or by sewage backup do you mean... Aw that's just tragic by the definition. But hey, if there is a bright side, at least the figures weren't in there, right? I mean I know the packaging boosts the value of the figure if you want to sell it later, but at least your actual figures are okay! Still, sorry for your loss, mate. All the best. {=)
@camzilla51 The figures were in most of these MISB or MIB boxes, lots of work during the first 24 hours to get the figures out of the packaging and dried off and hopefully salvage the sticker sheets for the G1, G2, and reissue figures.
Sorry for your loss dude! :(

Phosphoric acid is cheap and removes rust from screws easy; do you have any plans to repair the damaged boxes?
opsimathics 3 months ago
@opsimathics Boxes are long gone ... tossed to the curb four months ago.
Do you know where you can get phosphoric acid?

shit...
I can only hope that no one (as in living things) in your household was hurt?
Jimbobman903 7 months ago
@Jimbobman903 No one was hurt and, thankfully, I was not electrocuted while wading through the water to unplug the power cords in the basement.

@Rhynoseiber thank heavens for that...
