hey nice video i was there i think ..... you always seem to be there but i never see you probz coz dont now what you look like but oh well im there coz i have school every sat and sun 8 till 4 meet up some time and shoot some videos ? get back to me please
This might not be the best video you will ever put on here but it certainly captures the atmosphere at the airport. It looks very bleak yet beautiful the way snow has a way of making everything beautiful. Well done to capture this. I bet it was no picnic. 5*
They did an experiment to see how far a fully spooled up 747 would push cars, they should redo that test with the 777. It'd be great to see how far the car would be blown by the GE90's.. probably 4 times as far since stopping distance increases exponentially in relation to the increase in power, 50,000 to 98,000. Twinjets with high thrust ratios are going to be everywhere, so it'd make sense to do a "test".
The airport was closed when the snow first started to come down, but was open business as usual today. There were some delays. The airport does have de-icing equipment.
Absolutely superb as always mcpcshowcase, thanks for freezing your bollocks off to bring us this masterpiece. Loved the way she towers over us with the glaring sunlight in the background, and the light whisps of snow being blown up, looking more like Moscow than Manchester! Superb
That's a secret. LOL only joking. I have at least 2 A330 videos to upload, but sadly no A340. They are quite rare at Manchester - especially since Virgin have re-assigned theirs.
Is it not dangerous for planes to move about the airport with snow on the ground. A plane in America crashed into the Potomac River because of ice in the engines.
The Air Florida flight you refer to suffered a catalogue of errors made by the ground and flight crew. Providing the correct procedures are followed it is perfectly safe for aircraft to remain in service.
Love this video mcp! Did MAN have problems with the snow the past couple of days? My flight to Dublin with BA was cancelled 2 days ago, so going next week now!
It takes us about 4 hours and that's including a stopover at the services on the M40. I drive down because I can be there then really early when all the big 'exotic' aircraft come in (",)
It always nice to see the first big'un coming in, very soon after that the whole sky is full of them coming in from all directions. You should try and see it in the summer if you can!
yeah may time or when it gets lighter earlier on day ima try get to heathrow like 5am :) only 10-15mins away but il have to go bed at like 8pm :L or just not go to bed :P

Are you referring to the Top Gear test where they used a Virgin Atlantic 747 to blow away a Ford Mondeo and Citroen 2CV. That was great.
As you say, it would be fantastic to see that replicated with the 777.
mcpcshowcaseHD 2 years ago
Or the A380 - Imgine how far it would've been blow by a Trent 900 or a GP7200!
deccas1391 2 years ago
That would be a great sight to see too.

I wish I had time to visit MAN in the snow, what a beautiful sight. Did you not get frozen out there?

It was surprisingly warm considering. I had loads of layers on, but once the Sun was up it was quite toasty.
