if u have sad face ipod take it apart like the video shows and just wiggle around the little ribbon thats holding the 2 peices together the hold menu and select it should work after that

Hey, that little "ribbon thing" that you say is glued to itself, it is not really glued, it is just a tacky tab they put on it to keep it folded all nice like. It pulls apart with no problem at all so you can set the two parts side by side or even unplug the ribon from the face of the IPOD and set it asside. When you put the IPOD back together the heat of the hard drive combined with the ribbon folding on itself again will let the tack pad adheere to itself again.

Im to scared to take mine apart cause i'll break something.. My ipod will freeze in the middle of songs and then start back up as if it were paused.. or sometimes when it goes to the next song it'll freeze and i'll have to reboot it .. which most of the time it gives me the sad face :x But thanks for uploading this xD if I ever do get brave enough to open my iPod I'll come back to this vid :3 oh.. Epic hang up xD thats something a friend of mine would do hehe

I used a guitar pick one time cuz i didnt have my plastic opening tool.... i do not recommend it, it is very very hard with out a tool with a handle

I know my ipod stopped working so i took it apart unhooked all the ribbon clips and set it on the counter hooked it up to my computer and it worked.... why? i dont know, maybe soemthing got unhooked and i reconnected it

Thanks for the tip! Mine had the "Sad iPod" icon and the warranty was up, so I decided to try anything. I opened mine up and it started to work! That's it! Thanks a bunch!

my ipod won't register the songs that are on it? Its really wierd, I've tried everything, my computer tells me I got 10 gigs of space used with music, but it will not play it or let me browse it, It's not displaying at all. It is gone... *cry*..

just put it in disk mode (middle and right after reset), go into command prompt and type chkdsk x: (where x is your ipod drive letter). Then it will fix the corrupted files. If you want a garanteed fix then leave it in disk mode then restore it in itunes.

ok it cut me off cause of the battery, but that masicly it, just gently pull the ribbon cable apart and you have your ipod apart.

theres an easier way of popping open the top, jusst twsit it untill you here a dull click, the sides should have raised, then it becomes easier to wedge a screwdriver in the gap, Maybe you didnt wnat to know that since you probably wont take it apart again, lol.
