This is great fun, Chuck, one of your catchiest tunes and a lovely collection of characters in the midst of some clever lyrics. My apologies for taking so long to get round to listening!
@oldfolkiepad hi Paddy. i understand about time. i'm working eight days a week just trying to get bill money for winter. working ten to twelve hour days. i'm still enjoying having your cd in the car and it is now my favorite "go to" item. couple more days 'til turkey time. gotta' love thanks giving meals. thanks for the nice visit, chuck.
This is a two-fer, Chuck! Great story in the description and a great song! I love your way with lyrics - and the characters you create from the stuff of life!
@cadwalladee hi Scott. so good to hear from you. yeah, i also enjoyed that dog trick story. almost makes me want to try it but the key word is still "almost". like the guy who jumped across the cliff and almost made it. thanks for taking the time to listen and comment, be well, chuck.
Wonderful lyrics joined by great singing and fantastic pickin Chuck. I sure enjoyed this one as I do all your postings. Best wishes from the gang...*ron
You really appreciate and observe the game of life Chuck. That's what I love about your modern folk songs that you write and sing. Love the lyrics of this one. I'm the guy in your song that paid more dues than he had jobs. (Love that line). I'm still paying too. You are a unique soul sir. I really enjoy your offerings. Thanks for this one.
@psychospeakempire hi Paul. thanks so much for your kind words and continued support. i respect your opinions because i respect your own arttistry and sincrety. thanks for the welcome vote of confidence. it is appreciated. hope you and rick are doing fine and kickin' it daily, chuck.
Very cool. This is a nice snap shot of humanity. I like your clever use of language; very poetic and musical. Have you ever heard of "Clever Hans?" He is a horse that one learns about in psychology school. Much enjoyed 5*
@dmio2 Dan, actually i had heard of but forgotten about Clever Hans. we touched on that briefly my freshman year at college, where i majored in art and therefore am a roofer. my wife had a psychic connection to her cat years ago. if we were going out and i asked Elaine to call the cat in, Elaine would sit in a chair, close here eyes and think about "clay basket". every time, within only moments, she would scratch at the door. no body knows what a turtle knows, but a turtle. be well, chuck
That was a wonderful story to lead into the song Chuck. You never fail to capture such sharp images and feelings..as you listen it makes you think of similar people and characters you know and how we all fit together...somehow. Enjoyed!
@nessyvt hi Vanessa. i enjoyed your comment here because it is so accurate to what i was trying to achieve lyric wise. thanks for being such a preceptive,, encouraging friend and supporter. peace and love, chuck.
What a wonderful song, Chuck, going straight into my favorites. This song celebrates humanity in such a wonderful way. And it's so wonderfully performed too. Always enjoyed the listens, my friend. btw, love the dog story! :) Janet
@onewomanandsomesongs hi there Janet. thanks so much for the friendly visit. glad you like the dog story, i did too. my parents had a dog who loved milk bone biscuits. every time she came in, she would ask where her treat was. after a year or so, she got to where she recognized a couple dozen different locations (in peter's room under the bed......on theTV in the living room.........behind dad's rocker, etc") . she was a great pet. be well, chuck.
This lyric holds up well as a poem Chuck. Many good lyrics don't necessarily but this is one of the few which can. Nice clear sound too, a really fine recording.
@CurtisMateer thanks Pete. concerning the recording, the guitar is unplugged, taylor with light strings and the vocal is not amplified. just using a cannon digital camera. thanks for taking the time to listen, chuck.
@ljped hi Jack. good to hear from you. thanks for stopping by. hope you and the zen ramblers are getting a new one ready for us. peace and love, chuck.
You are amazing Chuck... Your guitar playing alone could win a Grammy....your words are well written and sung with a tongue in cheek style...but ring so very true...a woman with more heart than scars....profound.....I will visit this one again....into my faves..
@PatrickGMoran hi Patrick. you are of course too kind, however, i , of course am pleased that you are. thank you so much for your continued support. it means a lot to me, comming from such a sincere artist as yourself. hope you and yours are doing fine, loving, and healthy, chuck.
Wonderful Chuck! ....I like the pauses and chord changes unexpected and as always, very thoughtful lyrics,,,,,lovely guitar picking there in the dome! Glad i caught this,...!!Cheers, to you, Sir!
@cinderellalifestyle hi there Laurie. a lot of those pauses are due to emphosima (4 packs a day for 30 years). haven't smoked for fifteen years or so, but i still pay the price. i'm pleased if you like this one as you are one of my very favorite artists and i value your opinions. thank you for your kindness, chuck.
@guitarjosie hello Josie. you were listener number one this time. thank you for taking the time to listen and comment. my wife elaine, and i have both enjoyed your musical evolution since we first "met" that talented ten year old special person. thank you for so many fine memories. peace and love, chuck.
