Now THAT brings back some memories! ABC had it going, and nobody could beat them. Watching this it's like yesterday once more. I remember the Mayor on the show Carter Country. He'd say "Handlit, Handlit". Fantasy Island always followed The Love Boat. Tuesday night was solid with Happy Days, L&S, and Three's Company. Starsky and Hutch were on Wednesdays, but were moved to Tuesday, but they were after Charlie's Angels before the move. Baretta must have been canceled by then. Nice memories.
It's so funny that I remember the Tuesday lineup like it was yestersday. Friday night topped them all as the 80's started with The Fall Guy, Night Rider and Dukes of Hazzard.
fun with dick and jane 1977 that was a classic.........not that crap they made a couple of years ago with jim carrey that movie was garbage.could not even compare to the original fun with dick and jane.
Wow! Excellent! In our household, it was all about ABC! I have memories of sitting with my grandmother to watch Loveboat, charlies angels and Donnie and Marie! Heck, my 1st poster was a donnie and marie! Thanks for the memories:)
Most of the shows that were on ABC at the time are ones that were very memorable and have had successful runs in syndication and cable. Examples: Happy Days / Laverne & Shirley / Mork & Mindy, Love Boat, Taxi, Starsky & Hutch, Fantasy Island, Eight Is Enough, Charlie's Angels, Three's Company, Welcome Back Kotter, What's Happening, etc. Some have been revived as movies, some have had reunions, and some have their entire series out on DVD. ABC today is nothing like ABC of 1978.
@Superbatfan what I remember most about the preseason shows from the 70s was that as young kids (pre teen) we could not wait for the new fall season. My sister and I would pour over the TV Guide to see what shows would be cool to watch. There was an excitement about the old fashioned fixed schedule of the TV season back then. Now I don't even know what shows are coming on, and I don't care.
@SupernautG You sound exactly like me! I too would buy the latest TV Guide, and circle what I was going to watch. You're right, there was such of an excitement about those shows coming on. This went on for me until I was in my early 20s or so, I guess. I too have no idea what is on now, and don't care.
I love the brief star musical number near the end of this clip and I think it is so neat to see many of ABC's stars of the time grouped together. Also, I find it really interesting that ABC had so many successful programs all at relatively the same period of time. Thanks bobtwc for posting this valuable piece of tv history!
We live on a different planet now compared to then. TV was entertaining, funny, clean and actually had a story-line that made sense. I don't watch TV anymore.
3:02 = I could've sworn for a split second that was the Starship Enterprise before it turned into Mork's Egg.

They forgot to add NFL Monday Night Football clips to the lineup.

I used to get really excited in the 70s/80s over new shows. Now nothing is any good.

I remember this vividly... I couldn't wait for Galactica to come on and to also check out the "dazzling Athena" (Maren Jensen).

if every episode of Battlestar Galactica was as well produced and as well acted as the pilot, the show would have been an absolute classic.
