This was one of 7 Snader Telescriptions [soundies for TV] that they did in 1951 which includes "Dry Bones." You can hear the other 5 Snader soundtracks at my Black Quartets In Films 1927-1991 show # 18 here on YouTube.
Damn, that was precious. They escaped me. I'm 68 but they could be just a bit before my time. I'm guessing the late 40's; could hear influences in early '50's groups, the Four Lads, Ames Brothers.
I see a lot of their songs on youtube - I'll be playing them right after this. Oh yeah, I see "Dry Bones" listed, I remember that in the early 50's.
So when was Decided sung by them? Thanks for the excellent video, that was a great time. Really love this version.
That's Rene de Knight at the piano. He was the arranger, and later became the an arranger and the music director for the 5th Dimension's live performances. He died in 2004 at 90, gearing his later music toward spiritual interests. Thanks.
Amazing and so much more enjoyable than rap or hip hop! Real music created by real people instead of some tightie whiteie displaying gangsta spinning CD's.
@MadDawg60 thats a huge generalization man there is alot of hiphop that is REAL. (maybe your just not hip to it). Many of the great hip hop artists are very heavily influenced by jazz. ie. DILLA, MADLIB,

@LawrenceDavis yeah your right i'm the ignorant one. No hope for me and the handful of jazz legends i've been privileged enough to study with. all of which have their minds open to others forms of music especially hip hop. no need to badmouth other people or forms of music (unless your talking about rappers like Drake) you sir are the hopeless one.
This just KNOCKS ME OUT! I'm an old white dude who goes way back. First heard this tune when it was a hit for The Ames Brothers in the early 50s. But THESE guys are incomparable......love the choreography as well. I've probably watched this clip 20 times and spot something every viewing. Just fabulous!
Harmony!!!...they don't need no stinkin autotune!!

@damulch ...no hugh generalization at all, pal.
Today's hiphop stars are singing brain-dead crap, compared to the infintely more talented guys in the DRB ensemble.
No hope for you, and not really your fault....being a product of today's totally crappola "music" scene.

Some of the moves remind of what Cholly Atkins choreographed a few years later with the Tempts. Great talents and harmonies. Thanks.
