I just came home from Boston through Chicago on Halloween. I wanted to photograph the takeoff over Boston Harbor with my camera, but the flight attendant came over the PA system and said if it had batteries, turn it off during takeoff. I'm really surprised that you were able to run a video camera during that time.
you need to turn off only electronics that use signal, wirelles stuff, like wireless mouses, radio controls, walki talkies, internet, phones, but you should turn off everything
all the "turn of the electonics" stuff is bullshit, cell phones are a different story. u dont have 2 worry about it being on or off, just keep it out of sight from the flight attendants so they dont say anything, i always video tape during takeoff and landing.
because what the flight attendant says about the electronics interfering and having to turn them off is bullshit, so i was saying you dont need to do that, its only cell phones that can interfere, but thoses rarely ever interfere.
So what you're suggesting is to deliberately disobey the captain and the flight attendants when they tell you to turn off your electronics. Are you aware that this is a federal offense?
Yes i am saying that. If it was a federal offense then they would mention it, if they didnt say it then it technacly doesnt apply, the only time i hear them mention a federal offense is when they talk about smoking. and another ting, who cares about what the crew says, they did a mythbusters on it and they proved that interferance doesnt happen on an airliner, especially someting as sophisticated as the Boeing 717-200. thats how i see it.
There is no "if", and there is no "technically". Due to the Patriot Act, it is a federal offense to disregard the instructions of the people operating the airliner, or to threaten them in any way. I believe at this point on your comments must be disregarded.
ok then whatever you say. im only freakin 12 im not a genius, all im saying is if it is a federal offese to disregard insturctions they should say so, because they only say it 4 smoking. and i just flew 4 days ago on airtran and they didnt say anything, and on December 26th i flew united 2 times in one day, they didnt say anything, in august i flew midwest and they didnt say anything. and that is my point.
Yeah, J-Walking is also considered a crime, but it is not enforced. Why? Because it's just like no electronics even if it doesn't use a signal, which no flight attendants enforce. Also, I'm sure a flight attendant wouldn't ask you to turn the device off if they cared, they would just go ahead and divert the plane and have you detained. Right?
was who took off in front of us... right towards the end of your video (1:35) when you're starting your climb, I was taking a video from the same side of the plane and the other 717 banked left literally right next to our plane, it was amazing, they banked left, we banked right. And that ladies and gentlemen, is my story of Midway to Boston. Kind of unsettling how little room for error there would've been had anything gone wrong, say an ABORTED TAKEOFF. Geez.
land right after we were taking off. That type of thing happens all the time though. Also when we took off, another Airtran 717 squeezed into the runway before us and started its takeoff roll, and we jumped in right after so close behind it that we were still on the runway taking off at the same time as each other (completely against regulations). They must've been really trying hard to get out in time that evening. I even have footage of how close the first Airtran
area (taking off and landing) that we had to literally gun it onto the runway and takeoff extra quickly to avoid the 4 other planes that were visably coming into
Awesome vid. That must be an Airtran 717 from MDW to BOS. I took the same flight this past summer... although when mine took that turn onto the runway at around :30, there was so much other traffic in the
sounds like noise ambatment and reduced thrust procedures to me.
