He was absolutely pointless, like you said, he was just there and played no part to the story. Personally, I think it should've ended with a one on one match between Zidane and Kuja after Kuja uses Ultima on the party. That would've played into the story better than a big blue guy showing up randomly.
I wish square would stop making their games so complicated. Ff9 is the best in the whole series because it's simple battle system. I didn't have the patients to even play through the demo of ff13-2. Also I like the medieval-steampunk theme better than weird futuristic like 7 and 13. 3 reasons why ff9 is best: simplicity, music, and awesome environment without voice acting
@11ty62 Personally I find the best to be ff6. It has the same simplicty as 9 but throws in a few things to be unique as well, the music is breathtakingly beautiful (Not that 9's music is bad) and the environment was futuristic, but still somewhat modern. Then again, that's just my personal opinion.

Just beat this yesterday and almost had a panic attack when i fought Necron and he used grand cross for the third time (recovered from the first two), unluckily for me the third put everyone in berserk and quina to death, funnily enough, vivi in berserk delivered the final blow of a wopping 354 damage bahahaha.
@BoWLKuTT Oh my gosh, I was having a panic attack too. haha everyone was dead but Dagger and Zidane. Amarant was zombied, and dead, so he couldn't be woken up, Vivi was just dead. Luckily Zidane went on trance, that worked for me :) haha.
I love all Final Fantasies but FF9, and Kuja both have a special place reserved in my heart just for them. I absolutely love this song, and that's the thing about FF, every game has at least one epic track, most of them having several.
If you want to hear themes of the same kind, I compose of it regularly. I try to make musics which highlight the feelings and I have some of it which are estimated. You can already go to listen to it on my channel.
Guys every FF villain is awesome in their own way. No need to go all fan girl screaming over one and the other. Sephiroth for his destruction and planet destroying. Kefka and his insane laughing with destorying stuff also. And Kuja for just being cool looking and well... also blowing poop up. From 1-4500 FF they will hopefully always be cool. Same goes for some other games like Porky and Giygas.
@Vekkuza I agree, people don't give villains from Non-Final Fantasy games credit. Have you ever heard of Ghaleon from the Lunar series? Now there is one total fucking badass. Ghaleon is my favorite Video game villain of all time.

Been replaying this amazing game, i'm at the end, all I have to do is get 99 frogs to fight Quale, find the rest of the friendly creatures, and then fight Ozma. I'm kinda disappointed though... knowing that the game is actually ending?! Wtf? Man, I wish this game NEVER ended. Final Fantasy IX will, and will always be my favorite Final Fantasy game of all time.
@adikkuchan Wow, really? Lol, that kinda sucks. If you ever decide to Replay FFIX again, you should put on equipment that absorbs wind element, because i'm pretty sure he uses wind based attacks.
@adikkuchan Another good tip for Nova Dragon, you could have Amarant throw Wing Edges which deal like 7000-8000 dmg since Nova Dragon is a flying boss.
@adikkuchan You can find them in chests later in the game when you get Amarant, you can also steal them from bosses (You'll have to check Gamefaqs for which bosses and chests.) But by the end of the game, you should have around 13-14.
@Pharphain Agreed, FF7 was just too overrated because of the death of Aeris(I wanna change my account name T_T) FF8 was very good with a nice story but the junctioning was a bit confusing as a kid for me. FF9 was just perfect, It didnt have any dumb gimicks(i.e. FF12's license system), the story & music were simply amazing, combat was done well giving us 4 chars to use. Sadly though, the series has declined alot lately. 10/10-2 was meh, Onlines failed, 12 was worst, 13 wasnt interesting.
@sephiroth21347 VII is my third favorite FF game, V is my Second favorite FF game, and IX is the best Final Fantasy game in my opinion which is also my second favorite game of all time. I know VII is overrated, but great (At least for me.) XIII I thought was just garbage, and I have yet to play VIII and XII. I'll probably be playing VIII for the first time around the holidays. IX is overall the best though IMHO. The scene in Pandemonium with Zidane limping away from everyone is just pure GOLD.

So, apart from destroying Nibelheim, trying to injure the world with Black Materia to merge with the lifestream's energy and become a god-like being and then reviving and wanting to ride the planet through the cosmos to find another world that JENOVA could infect, he was just really a nice guy?? No, he was freaking villain. The entire story of the original FF7 game is that Sephiroth was the villain, along side JENOVA.
@keeperoftruthes Sephiroth died in Nibelheim ten years before the game started. His soul couldn't enter the Lifestream because he was tainted by JENOVA. He was a hero to everyone in SOLDIER, people like Zack. He lost his mind because of the mindwrecking revelation that he was just an experiment. You'll notice he spends a long time dealing with that knowledge, and everything he does after going crazy is a misguided belief that he is an Ancient and is inheriting the planet.
@Antiformed JENOVA manipulates his resentful spirit and uses his form to escape from ShinRa; the Reunion is the will of Jenova, and revenge is the will of Sephiroth. Their goals sort of merge eventually, but it's mostly Jenova orchestrating the Planet's destruction. Sephiroth himself is more or less a shadow of himself by the time AC comes around, and has lost all traces of sanity or rationality.
@Antiformed No he didn't. He was thrown into the lifestream but he didn't die. That's why his body and consciousness are kept in that thing at the North Cave. He was a hero in the prequel games but in FF7 he IS a villain. Not in the entire compliation but in the original game he's the main villain. After he goes crazy and starts killing people left right and centre then tries to kill everyone on gaia and wound the planet so that he can merge with it's energy he becomes a villain.

He's the one who control's the JENOVA cells in the Sephiroth clones and in Cloud and she's called to the reunion just like the others. It's his plan to put a hole in the world to merge with the lifestream energy, not her's. If it were her then she would have controlled him from the beginning, when he was a SOLDER hero. As soon as he goes insane he is evil.
@keeperoftruthes true he does have more control, but like antiformed said, sephiroths motives were influenced by JENOVA, due to his discovery that J was his mother and that he was basically a test tube baby, which really pissed him off and he became insane :P

Kuja was a narcissist who saw life as a performance where he was supposed to be the most important character.The lead actor cannot be defeated by his own mortality; it disgraces the very art of the theater. Kuja wished to create a finale where he destroyed everything; not where he was defeated by his own lifespan. He believed that was the only way to die honorable- by dragging the world too.
I liked how towards the end all the good music got played. First was Hunter's Chance if you chose to fight Hades, Second was this and last was the final battle against he who shall not be named

Guys every FF villain is awesome in their own way. No need to go all fan girl screaming over one and the other. Sephiroth for his destruction and planet destroying. Kefka and his insane laughing with destorying stuff also. And Kuja for just being cool looking and well... also blowing poop up. From 1-4500 FF they will hopefully always be cool. Same goes for some other games like Porky and Giygas.

@Vekkuza I agree, people don't give villains from Non-Final Fantasy games credit. Have you ever heard of Ghaleon from the Lunar series? Now there is one total fucking badass. Ghaleon is my favorite Video game villain of all time.

Been replaying this amazing game, i'm at the end, all I have to do is get 99 frogs to fight Quale, find the rest of the friendly creatures, and then fight Ozma. I'm kinda disappointed though... knowing that the game is actually ending?! Wtf? Man, I wish this game NEVER ended. Final Fantasy IX will, and will always be my favorite Final Fantasy game of all time.

@Pharphain Good for you, I never went past Nova Dragon. Zidane is at level 80, and the rest is 60+. I got killed reallly quick lol.

@adikkuchan Wow, really? Lol, that kinda sucks. If you ever decide to Replay FFIX again, you should put on equipment that absorbs wind element, because i'm pretty sure he uses wind based attacks.

@adikkuchan Another good tip for Nova Dragon, you could have Amarant throw Wing Edges which deal like 7000-8000 dmg since Nova Dragon is a flying boss.

@adikkuchan You can find them in chests later in the game when you get Amarant, you can also steal them from bosses (You'll have to check Gamefaqs for which bosses and chests.) But by the end of the game, you should have around 13-14.

@Pharphain Agreed, FF7 was just too overrated because of the death of Aeris(I wanna change my account name T_T) FF8 was very good with a nice story but the junctioning was a bit confusing as a kid for me. FF9 was just perfect, It didnt have any dumb gimicks(i.e. FF12's license system), the story & music were simply amazing, combat was done well giving us 4 chars to use. Sadly though, the series has declined alot lately. 10/10-2 was meh, Onlines failed, 12 was worst, 13 wasnt interesting.

@sephiroth21347 VII is my third favorite FF game, V is my Second favorite FF game, and IX is the best Final Fantasy game in my opinion which is also my second favorite game of all time. I know VII is overrated, but great (At least for me.) XIII I thought was just garbage, and I have yet to play VIII and XII. I'll probably be playing VIII for the first time around the holidays. IX is overall the best though IMHO. The scene in Pandemonium with Zidane limping away from everyone is just pure GOLD.

@AzAmAn994 fun fact of the day: Kuja actually was supposed to be female, but if i remember right they figured a male villian would work as a better rival for Zidane. personally regardless of his uh....fashion sense he still pretty much one of the best (best imo) FF villians.

@Anime6997 Sephiroth wasn't a villain, JENOVA was. Sephiroth's was also rejected by the Lifestream because of his Jenova cells.

So, apart from destroying Nibelheim, trying to injure the world with Black Materia to merge with the lifestream's energy and become a god-like being and then reviving and wanting to ride the planet through the cosmos to find another world that JENOVA could infect, he was just really a nice guy?? No, he was freaking villain. The entire story of the original FF7 game is that Sephiroth was the villain, along side JENOVA.

@keeperoftruthes Sephiroth died in Nibelheim ten years before the game started. His soul couldn't enter the Lifestream because he was tainted by JENOVA. He was a hero to everyone in SOLDIER, people like Zack. He lost his mind because of the mindwrecking revelation that he was just an experiment. You'll notice he spends a long time dealing with that knowledge, and everything he does after going crazy is a misguided belief that he is an Ancient and is inheriting the planet.

@Antiformed JENOVA manipulates his resentful spirit and uses his form to escape from ShinRa; the Reunion is the will of Jenova, and revenge is the will of Sephiroth. Their goals sort of merge eventually, but it's mostly Jenova orchestrating the Planet's destruction. Sephiroth himself is more or less a shadow of himself by the time AC comes around, and has lost all traces of sanity or rationality.

@Antiformed No he didn't. He was thrown into the lifestream but he didn't die. That's why his body and consciousness are kept in that thing at the North Cave. He was a hero in the prequel games but in FF7 he IS a villain. Not in the entire compliation but in the original game he's the main villain. After he goes crazy and starts killing people left right and centre then tries to kill everyone on gaia and wound the planet so that he can merge with it's energy he becomes a villain.

@keeperoftruthes Also, if you read what he says, he only believes he's an ancient until he enters the life stream, where the knowledge of the planet goes into his mind and he realises he's not an ancient, which is where he hatches his plan to merge with the lifestream energy.

@Antiformed JENOVA augment's Sephiroth's power. If anything he has more control over her than she does over him. He's the one who control's the JENOVA cells in the Sephiroth clones and in Cloud and she's called to the reunion just like the others. It's his plan to put a hole in the world to merge with the lifestream energy, not her's. If it were her then she would have controlled him from the beginning, when he was a SOLDER hero. As soon as he goes insane he is evil.

@keeperoftruthes true he does have more control, but like antiformed said, sephiroths motives were influenced by JENOVA, due to his discovery that J was his mother and that he was basically a test tube baby, which really pissed him off and he became insane :P

and even if he were influenced, his actions were still his own, he wasn't physically or mentally controlled by anyone, he's just a mummy's boy (the greatest villain of any game in my books and just pure awesome, but still a mummy's boy haha)

@Anime6997 Kuja did lots of whining about having to die at some point, but it was a realistic motivation. Kuja was a narcissist who saw life as a performance where he was supposed to be the most important character.The lead actor cannot be defeated by his own mortality; it disgraces the very art of the theater. Kuja wished to create a finale where he destroyed everything; not where he was defeated by his own lifespan. He believed that was the only way to die honorable- by dragging the world too.

@adikkuchan Ah it's ok, all shall be forgiven in the end when we face Necron lol. <-- nerdy endgame ff9 reference. Well just download a PS1 emulator on your computer and play it or buy a ps2 those are cheap now and ff9 isn't hard to get :)
