  • Rod fans: check this one out- A British female record producer brings the sound of Rod to a new generation. In YouTube, search for 'TIMEKODE, ROD STEWART' and listen to 'YOU'VE BROKEN THRU'... You'll get the PL Jackson connection...

  • We were so pure then, blues fanatics all the way. Rod Stewart, Keith Richards and Mick Jagger, Alexis Corner, John Mayall. All of Europe was gripped by the blues.

    Thanks for posting this!

  • @kc2dtp

I heard it for the first time sometime begin '70s..in Romania,of all places and once in the West I tried to find it on some format, with no success, for almost 30 years. You can imagine how happy I was when I found it.Same happened with the South Michigan Ave. by the Stones(the full version). This one I had to take it off my YouTube page because the Rec. Company said so.Of course, after a couple of months, they released the 5x12 album remastered album with the full version

  • @mikemk6491 ... sorry mate, but you're wrong on that one. Rod Stewart was guesting with the band Python Lee Jackson on this session in April 1969 during which they recorded 3 tracks... In A Broken Dream, The Blues and Doin' Fine... all of which appeared on the Python Lee Jackson album on Youngblood Records... original production by John Peel if I remember right, later credited to Miki Dallon who bought all the rights for Youngblood.

  • @rodstewartshow Well, Peel produces the Stewart/PLJ sessions AND discovers the Undertones. Nice.

  • @rodstewartshow

Completely correct mate - and Rod was paid a set of carpets for his car. Ace tune.

  • why does it sau rod stewart and pyhton lee jackson rod stewart was python lee jackson derr

  • Rod can sing with best.

    Great character his own man.

    What's wrong with that.

    Thanks for post

  • dreadful version of "how blue can you get?" - bb king puts soul into this song, but rod just kills it slowly. i like rod stewart, but this is nothing short of painful x

  • Rod's gravel voice suits the style of this music perfectly.......I hear Superstition in his voice here......Sing it Rod sing it!

  • I'm sorry I didn't answer to your remark until now...there's no need for any remark.Your...''tosser'' is and stays one of the most iconic figures of the pop music of the last 40 years

  • Rod Stewart is a chocolate phoney scotsman and a dirty fenian bastard .

  • @mikeyadonis1

Why are you saying this Rod is never a phoney.......That is one thing he is not and has never has been........He is best showmsn that I have ever seen...and likely to see. I hope Rod see this message..I saw him at the Oval in the 1970's I have loved himsince then..and will until the day I die..........I HOPE Rod see this... I prey he doe's..Rod I love YOU.....

I listen toyour music allthe time......

    Loveyou Babe/////

    Penny I am also a Photographer.................xxxxxxx...

  • @elldee21 No your right he`s not a phoney 100% correct. He`s a cock smoker.

  • @mikeyadonis1 BUT HE'S IN FRONT OF YOU. :)

  • @edwina22 No Eddie dear, if he was in front of me i would get a set of bolt cutters ,and cut that big mole off the side of his face then make you eat it sweety pie!!!

  • @mikeyadonis1 Hmm sure you would,

  • The lead guitar playing by Mick Liber is awesome!

  • @guitarboogieboogie Yes, Mick, it is.....

  • @yeoviljunction thnx......YO!

  • Oh Dear, re- negative comments here. Simple question follows. Why are you listening to this?

I think it is terrific. Rock on Rod!

  • Anyone have any idea what time frame this was? Was Rod still working for Jeff Beck at this point? Anyone think this stuff sounds similar to the "Truth" album by the Jeff Beck Group? Anyone think it's in a similer style?

  • hahaha,, bitchfight on youtube,, goat im on your side as it happens

  • Great Aussie band with a once great Scottish singer... I have two other Python Lee Jackson clips on my channel.

  • BB King would be proud of the way Rod is doing one of his finest songs.

  • very true, very blue

  • nice blues guitar played by mick liber

  • nice guitar by Mick Liber ! who also played lead guitar on "in a broken dream"....also by rod stewart

  • Rod is a living legend. One of the greatest Rock n Roll singers ever. The length of his career is directly proportionate to his enormous talent.

What have the Spanish given us? Julio Englasias, I do believe my case is rested. Fool.

  • It would be more accurate to say that the length of his career is inverse to his minimal talent. The man is a total tosser and 95% of his work is total garbage.

  • "the length of his career is inverse to his minimal talent. "...compared to what?...yours?

He must be doing something very well since so many fans say something else

  • You are entitled to your opinions.I agree with Girls Aloud & Mozart.I'd say that Elvis is also one of "them" since he was a cabotin(and has millions of fans)...with voice...true

and the list could go on for ever...Lighten up :-))

  • What you on about goatface1000 ?

No Talent? Mozart is a world renown musical genius who composed symphonies as a child! Possibly the greatest composer ever. The Beatles are one of the greatest pop groups ever. Lennon was a brilliant song writer, thats why they had so much success.

And who are you? A sad, lonely, miserable middle aged man who needs to go slit your wrists. Dont worry, nobody will miss you, not even your ma & pa. Now fuck off and die in your horrible council flat.

  • @0019808 Bach was the greatest ever composer if you were a musician you would know that, The Beatles are as you say a pop groupbut they are nothing more than that and other than as a social phenomenen of no lasting importance. As for the comments you make about me. I do not live in a council flat I am not going to kill myself as my family like me personal comments comments like that indicate a lack of intelligence and maturity. I will take my horns to you!

  • Goatface

Which Bach are you referring to, JS or WF? Or were you not aware there were two of them, idiot?! I said Mozart is possibly the greatest composer ever because some claim that. Actually its impossible to say who is the greatest composer as it has never been agreed. Nevertheless, it's safe to say anybody who says Mozart is talentless is, at minimal, mentally retarded. Anyway, prove us wrong, lets hear YOUR music to compare with Bach and Mozart. Do you have any? No, I thought not. Idiot.

  • @0019808 JS, I do play music you are an opinionated bigot, People if asked who the greatest musician is will say Mozart. The greatest writer is always Shakespeare. Neither is true they are both overrated. What great music do you have to criticise me and call me an idiot? Never personalise an argument because we dsagree does not make me an idiot. Are you a freemason thats why you are so keen on Mozart

  • @goatface1000 fuck you punk! you dont know nothing man. the beatles are gay by the way!

  • I note that you come from Sweden, why are you writing as if you are American? I think the Beatles are overrated but have no interest or opinion as to their sexuality. I know a lot about blues music and the above is not very good. Happy new year from the goat

  • yep they played at beatle village up oxford street sydney, as did the easy beats for a night i think, but python was there for awhile, i did know his real name but forgotten, but his girlfriendd was the stunning valli kemp, ive now found out what happened to him, and i know she had a very minor roll in a bond film, and she drew pics of kids i think, but id be interested to know if she made it in the modelling world of london in the 60's, i know this is a python site, but its triggered me off,lol

  • python lee jackson's resident gig in Sydney was at rhubarbs down the end of Liverpool street, they had Mal Mcgee singing and the legendary Shane Duckham usually sitting in. Ahh they were great days.

  • god, id forgotten rhubarbs, i remember it was down a little lane, i think, near the spanish club, and there was a pub down that way too, i think it was called the bunch, cant remember its real name

  • The pub was the critereon and there was a spanish restaurant up above rhubarbs which was in the basement and the spanish club was up near george street.Everytime the band had a break everybody raced over to the pub and back.Did you ever try the orange juice( !! ) they gave away at rhubarbs?

  • i tried everything else there, lol,i just cant remember the orange juice, though it does ring a bell, just going thru memory banks, there was also a place in darlinghurst road, called the the folk club, i think that was the name, thats where i met ronny burns and the rest of the flies, it was a room up some stairs, where they played folk music, and in the latter part of the sixties there was another place in pitt st, that used to be an upmarket restaurant, i just cant remember names at the moment

  • wicked posting, many thanks

  • fantastic vocal .... good song ...sounds bout right evil , jealous women lol

  • The original Python Lee Jackson was formed in December 1965, in Sydney by Englishmen, singer Frank Kennington and guitarist Mick Liber (born in Peebles, Scotland on 1 March 1944) after meeting drummer David Montgomery (born September 1945 in Melbourne). Together with bass player Roy James they played the underground circuit. In early 1966 Kennington was busted and deported back to the UK and former Missing Links singer Bob Brady filled in for several months

  • all sorts of line up changes happened until:

Arriving in the UK in October 1968, Bentley, Liber and Montgomery, joined by former Levi Smith Clefs' bass player John Helman, played at the Vesuvio club on Tottenham Court Road. In early 1969, Python Lee Jackson worked at the Arts Lab on Drury Lane for several months where they were spotted by DJ John Peel. In April 1969, Bentley, Liber and Montgomery, joined by Jamie Byrne from The Groove, recorded three tracks in the studio with Rod Stewart.

  • Thank you for the(true) story of Python Lee Jackson.

  • welcome...amazing how much specualtion and misconception goes on on here, when we're all connected to open source referencing...you know the internet!?

  • and then:

Stewart was brought in to sing on the song when Bentley informed his band mates that he didn't think his voice was right for the song. Recorded by John Peel, "In a Broken Dream" languished until 1970 when Miki Dallon, who had re-produced the track for his Youngblood label, released it. The single flopped but Dallon persevered and in 1972 the single's third release rose to number three in the UK Singles Chart and #56 in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

  • In Europe, the song became something of a classic. It turned up on the soundtrack of films and documentaries (including the acclaimed art house movie Breaking the Waves) and became the subject of many cover versions.

Rod Stewart included the song on two anthologies of previously recorded work and, in the mid 1990s, an English band, Thunder, delivered a high octane reading that propelled it into the UK chart for the second time.

  • very good!!!

  • my daughter was born in feb, 66, and i certainly wasnt pregnant when i was going to beatle village. i was 17 in 1964, so i think they formed late 64.

  • 20ceeyou06 please accept my humble apologies for such an stupid comment i was solely missimformed

  • nevermind... :)

  • Sorry, you're both wrong. Python Lee Jackson wasn't born anywhere. It was an Australian band. The original singer (and I think the guitarist), were born in the UK. Possibly Scotland.

  • Of course ,you're right...That's why at the beginning of the clip I ask...Python who??

  • dont be so daft python lee jacksons born in la rod stewart uk

  • rod stewart is python lee jackson and vice versa

  • I don't think so...
