Dave, believe it or not, this was one of the videos that convinced me to buy a HTC Desire in November 2011, great review! The only thing that annoys me about this phone for everyday use is battery life and low internal storage, but anyway awesome review, keep up the great work.

I've had my desire for a few months & overal i really like it. However the one thing it doesn't do is allow me to edit any video clips i take. All my old Sony Ericsson phones had built in software so i could edit the clip then send it to people via mms! Every video clip i try to send,this phone just says 'Message size limit reached'! How do i get around this? I've searched the android market for an app that might help but as yet haven't found one. My phone is fully updated & running 2.2.

I have my HTC desire for a week now, a full charge barely takes me through the day! That is one of the biggest disappointments along with the very bad sound quality, both recording or playback. Everything else about this phone is GREAT! If it wasn't for the bad sound quality and battery life it would've been perfect!

Any word on the so called Desire HD? HTC is supposed to make some sort of announcement in mid September and they took so long releasing the Desire to some markets I wonder if the Desire HD will lag that far behind in release as well.....otherwise the Desire would be my phone of choice.

@10MinProductions This will get you 500MB of data, so a few videos, some music and occasional surfing for a month. Each month, this would renew (depending on your package).

@10MinProductions I have been told that 1mb worth of text is a dictionaries worth of text, if that makes sense. I think it's about 4 hours of youtube quality video, but i don't know how much widgets will burn the usage away. hope this helps

bullshit man, htc desires battery life sucks... i am happy if my phone still has battery when i come home after a day of use... i don't even use htc live wallpapers nor high brightness... if urbattery is at 50% after 2 days of use than u probably changed the battery with a better one. Anyway, i still enjoy htc desire more than iphone

@nusacasa Yes, battery life seems to be a problem indeed, especially in the first 2 weeks.

Mine had to be charged twice a day for the first 3 days. Now it's 6 days old and I'm looking at 36 hours, that's just standby with the WiFi on.

Judging by the percentages, I'm looking at 48 hours on a charge .. but that's only on standby. Use it and it's around a day or so. Which is enough for me actually.

@marklouieadame Hard choice, I am still testing the Galaxy S. So far, I like the faster processor and better screen, battery life is about 21 hours between charges, but the Desire is better built.

1st screen to the right in the standard set up with HT Sense (I think! or at least it's the way my phone was set up)

All that's on it is 'add contact' which I did once and the next time I switched on the phone it was gone. You can't add anything else to it - or at least I can't... :( might be me being daft of course.

my friend is in the UK right now and hes suppose to pick up the desire for me...however they told him that there are 2 versions to the phone...a european version which costs 380 pounds and a UK version at the vodafone store which costs 480 pounds...is there any differences between the 2...

@Remkoee I have found the 4GB one to be plenty. However, if you plan on taking lots of photos or video, or carry a lot of music with you, then maybe and 8GB or 16GB would be good.

Go you right away, you got the desire on full brightness? I don't think so, maybe you havn't seen the full brightness on this phone but it is blinding! what your using is about 30% brightness.. And why have you got a screen protector on a GLASS screen?? If it was plastic then ofcourse you would use a protector but it isn't and there's no need whatsoever.

cell phone standby: 43%

idle:31%

wifi: 2%

and a few other things to make it 100%

but it just doesnt seem to last as long as my old phone.

@livelifexplore Didn't try the GPS on video yet, but it works well, very quick.

Video watching is hard to say, as I use so many different features throughout a day. I would expect around 5-7 hours.

Yes, there is an airplane mode, quickest way, hold in the power button, then onscreen pop-up to select the mode.
