as for accuracy, they are "combat accurate"..the power is variable..surplus ammo that was intended to be used was a 100gr bullet at 1150 fps,..modern production ammo is a 98gr bullet at 750-800 fps.. ruffly a .32acp.. your enemy will know they've been shot and a well placed shot will negate thier ability to pose a lethal threat/kill them,..the old ammo was equal to a 9mm, but itas hard to find and considered collectable.
@Ki113r210 I am aware of this, but if they made sucha gas seal design to improve the velocity of the round, why did they choose such a pathetic round? they could have adapted the design to a more powerful gas seal cartridge so the extra velocity would actually mean something. if u dont agree, please see where im comin from.
I would so put a spring with the ejector rod for faster reloading, because that is just pathetic, they should have coppied the S&W 44 Russian breaktop action.
Enough of talking about how the .327 federal magnum is too high of a pressure to shoot out of a nagant 1895 revolver. What about an abuse test. We all would like to see someone test an unmodified nagant revolver shooting 50 rounds of factory .327 federal magnum through it.
can someone do an abuse test of the nagant 1895 revolver using .327 federal magnum cartridges? The .327 federal magnum cartridges will chamber in the nagant revolver so I and a many other in the gun forums would like to see the video. Thnx :D
P.S. Please don’t try this unless you have the right tools to try this experiment. Remember this could be dangerous so please be careful .
The reason why it is difficult to reload Nagant because of the shells. Before 1917 revolution shell cases were made from better quality metal such as copper, brass etc. So these shell cases just fell off by themselves. Reloading was a lot quicker. After 1917 Soviets decided to use shitty metal so cases would get stuck in the cylinder and you had to use ejector rod.
Lol your trying to kill a group of 30 nazi's, you have a mosin nagant, and this nagant revolver. You kill 5 with your mosin, to slow to reload, kill 7 with ur revolver, then your reloading and like 'fuck this' and you take out your ak47, RPG7, RPK, RPD, and ak74u. And are like "Die motherfucker"
I recently picked one of these up (Tula arsenal, 1940) for about $100.00 at a gun show.
So far, I've ran about 100 rounds of the Hotshot ammo through it. Quite accurate (2" groups @ 30 yards) but VERY WIMPY (98-grain bullet @ 655 fps according to my chrono.) That's only 93 foot-pounds of energy; hell, my Ruger .22 auto is more potent with Stinger ammo!
Am I missing something here? NO WAY this gun's going to be effective against enemies in heavy winter clothing, like on the Eastern Front in WW2!
No, but there are countless people who have. I know a couple gunsmiths who have and they say it works just fine, if you go to the channel name "rugersix," he does a three part video about the Nagant revolver and he says shooting magnums are fine, and the same for the channel name "Dietzeee" who does two different videos about the nagant revolver.
Yep, these are not that powerful, it's a 7.62 Nagant round which is about a .30 cal. The ammo made by Hotshot can be found easily online for about $22 for a box of 50. It's a nice fun collectors item that only costs $80, not a good modern defensive weapon.
There is one exception. The .32 H&R magnum round fits perfectly in the cylinder and has about the same knockdown power as a .38 special. It doesn't harm the gun, it isn't dangerous, and it's about the same price or less than the factory ammo. If you were a good shot and used .32 mags in that thing, it would be a viable self-defense gun. In fact that's what I'm thinking of doing. It's great for someone who can't afford a .45 automatic or .357 magnum revolver.

@motlencore89 the gas seal action wouldnt of worked then. the cylinder moves foreward when the hammer goes back, so the cylinder has to be fixed

reaperflynn3 2 years ago
well Russian combat doctrine at the time it was introduced was favorable for it, wouldnt have time to reload during a charge anyway :)
