Spirit were the most under-rated band of all time. Their first four albums are all classics and should all be in any top 100 albums ever list. This particular Beat Club appearance was recorded in 1970 and is rare so thanks for uploading.
INCREDIBLE!!!!! Thank you for posting this. I saw the original band numerous times live, and this clip shows their true live intensity. Now for some live Jo Jo Gunne...???
@833P I think you'll find this was an issue off what was going to be their 4th album. ie 1984, but they split before any other songs were recorded. Randy's ego was in full swing and unbalanced the band unfortunately.
Check out Randy's guitar. It is a very rare (now) transparent acrylic Ampeg - Dan Armstrong. He was my main-man at the time so I traded in my 1964 Tele for one. Bad move - it attracted a thief who broke into my band's studio and stole the thing. His incredible and very custom little tone box is taped to the jack with white tape - as usual. This is his hard-ass phase. I sorta preferred his persona when he played a Tele and before the shades and leather.
I caught all of Spirit's concerts in SF. Mostly Bill Graham. There is NO comparison between Spirit live and their recordings. For some reason they always crammed 1 hr of material onto 40 min LPs that are WAY too fast. 90% of RC's solos got cut and the immense dynamics are gone. Bill Graham recorded virtually every concert he put on. All are on wolfgangsvault except Spirit. The REAL Spirit is live. The BGP tapes are about the only way to hear it and some must still exist. Where are the they?
I hear you, there is a good bit of Spirit stuff out there, but this is the only live with the original line up video I've come across. Thanks again for puttin it up.

Randy California played some nights in 1972 with DEEP PURPLE substituing the illness Ritchie Blackmore.
It´s a pity no records survived to our days from this episode.

Fantastic. This is actually the cleanest footage I've seen of the original lineup. Randy had such a freakin' great tone...

And the singer of this band, Jay Ferguson, composed the theme song for The Office. Amazing...

I'm afraid it will be very difficult.I found this clip searching for a German club "Beat Club" .They have so many records ,incredible records.
This is the only one i was able to find so..if you search for Spirit you'll find something but it isn't the
original band.
