oooma saleeema oooma saleema! Where was this in Brazil and how far away is it from Jonestown? This is just plain creepy. Thousands and thousands of individuals contribute to Gnu/Linux not just one. There are so many there is no room for prima donnas. It isn't a cult.

Linus is the opposite of a prima donna. He does not typically go to events because he identifies himself as an engineer, and he dislikes people taking pictures of him, asking for autographs, etc.
Linus has accepted awards for Linux, but he is careful to acknowledge that these awards are for the community.
For a group of people to ask him to come to their conference and to show them their appreciation for what he (and the rest of the GNU/Linux) community has done is not out of line.
