If Prof. Green killed his other, past, self, rather than shaking his hand, then he would have both surved, to travel back into the past eventually, and got murdered. Both of these things would have happend but in alternate realities.

@FlargidyTV Alien (who perceives himself as living at the speed x) sees us as moving slower than he is (let's call this speed x - 1). We of course see ourselves also at speed x. Our time from the the point of view of the alien is x - 1, we seeing us is x. x does not equall x - 1, they are both different points of view, but the problem is there is no objective point of view. It's like every particle in the universe has it's own different clock. At least that's how I undestand it.

@firiel113 This is what confuses me. If the alien was moving toward us, then the video says he'll be seeing in our past. If every particle does have its own clock, then there are still all the particles or energy at every moment and I don't see how movement by the alien would make his time equal to our past. I understand looking at the stars and seeing what they looked like years ago, and that's sort of like looking in the past, although you are looking at the light just reaching us.

I understand the idea now but not understanding how it works exactly. I understand time is not separate from space and there are not universal "moments", and I understand the idea of spacetime, just not the difference in time over long distances as the video explained.

@FlargidyTV thing is that u dont even need reverse positions since motion between two objects is relative.But it doesent matter i dont think this has some real usage.If we will ever want effectively travel to other maybe civilizated planets we will not do it by classic moving by spacetime.

The only way we could do that is if he had a huge spaceship where we grew our own food and had plants that can create oxygen and then give birth to kids who will grow up and replace the astronauts who will then have kids of there own and etc... That's not very practical and I don't know if that would even be possible. We need to discover warp drive.

@orchoose If the Higgs Field turns out to be true, then I was thinking a way to travel would be to temporarily disable the part of the Higgs field you are traveling through, which will cause extremely fast travel (maybe instant), since the Higgs Field is what theoretically makes particles slow down and not go at infinite velocity. Imagine having a device that disables part of it in front of you while traveling, and then when you get to that position, the device displaces more, continuously.

@orchoose A very fascinating and interesting video, I am no expert in this field, but I always understood that time can be measured through the aging process and decay and deteriation of buildings and objects. Therefore, if you where to stand motionless for a period of time, for arguments sake, twenty years, we could measure time passage without movement, because you would have aged by twenty years. Regardless of motion or movement and likewise any object would also have "decayed or aged".
