We weren't ready, and we are paying the price. Plus, the Bush administration deceived us with lies about Al Queda and WMDs. I love our country. I would gladly fight for it. I know many of the areas have revolted against the insurgents and the al Qaeda as well. It's a big mess with what seems to be dozens of factions. But we also need to cut off the head of the serpent, which is probably near Pakistan.
what to do as far as strategy?well cant be very specific because im not a military strategist and dont have the intel.of course the marxists are not a good thing but they need protection too.the main thing is to stop the religious violence and terrorist that impedes free markets and political freedom.once business is free to conduct itself with the governments protection it will be alright and hopefully there will be no more flak from angry nationalists.
Strategy-wise, like I said, go for the top guys who may still be in Tora Bora. Take out the central core, and everything will become splintered. Killing lieutenants occassionally doesn't help much, as there will be another.
Problem is though, religious violence in the region dates back THOUSANDS of years. There's been bigotry as long as there's been civilization. I honestly don't see us being able to stop that, that would take a miracle from God, Himself.
well i dont really have anything to say about your thoughts on strategy except that i have full faith in the commanders that are working solely to accomplish their goal and have the best resources to make such decisions. the religous violence will subside with the introduction of the free markets and support of a non-sectarian government.remember there was relative peace between sunni and shia before 2003 so a stable economic environment will likely subdue the tension.
Saddam kept the peace between those sects through violence. Fact is, as long as there is the paranoia which exists here in the US and over there regarding Israel, secret socities, false prophets among the different sects, etc, it will continue.
A problem I had heard about with the Iraqi army is the fact that they haven't keep good tabs on those troops. They just show up now and again, get a paycheck and go home. Don't know if that's still the case or not.
well you may or may not be right about how saddam kept the peace but just by looking at other countries you can conclude that economic stability is a requirement to keep peace.there was definitely lack of organization of iraqi troops but like i said its improving as the government is getting more organized.my father has been there several times training iraqis and he says its getting better.

a lot of people fail to realize that there is a lot of american support in the middle east.only the religous fanatic minority have ill will towards the west and the actual citizens of iran, iraq, saudi arabia, etc embrace western and american culture. most of them want to be like us, watch our movies, listen to our pop artists, etc. but there is a fear from the conservative governments.
I don't think abndoning them is right at all, but what they're doing now, with no new strategy other than a troop increase, doesn't focus on everything. Obama, I have heard him say that he would like to withdraw some of the troops, but he's even said that a full evacuation would be a problem. He has said, rather, we can't stay and fight a war with no plan, no end in sight, forever. Even WW2 had a plan. Like Hitler, Bin Laden's goons will fall apart without that centrality.

Yes, it was only the founding fathers who chose what went in the Constitution, but the founding fathers VOTED to put stuff in the constitution. Thank you for your service. I think Saddam was a tyrant that eventually needed to be taken out. However, we should've gone in with more troops and a bigger international coalition. We weren't ready, and we are paying the price. Plus, the Bush administration deceived us with lies about Al Queda and WMDs. I love our country. I would gladly fight for it. But I would only fight for it for the right reasons. If our country was under threat (it was not being threatened by Iraq) I would gladly sign up.

What is the fighting for anyway? There are different sects of insurgents, we can't say they're all the same group working for the same leader, because they aren't, it's a mix of at least three groups. It's us and the Iraqi army, the insurgent militias, and al Qaeda fighters all at once. Why can't the Iraqi army handle the problem themselves too?

Strategy-wise, like I said, go for the top guys who may still be in Tora Bora. Take out the central core, and everything will become splintered. Killing lieutenants occassionally doesn't help much, as there will be another.
Problem is though, religious violence in the region dates back THOUSANDS of years. There's been bigotry as long as there's been civilization. I honestly don't see us being able to stop that, that would take a miracle from God, Himself.

A problem I had heard about with the Iraqi army is the fact that they haven't keep good tabs on those troops. They just show up now and again, get a paycheck and go home. Don't know if that's still the case or not.

Obama, I have heard him say that he would like to withdraw some of the troops, but he's even said that a full evacuation would be a problem. I've seen those posts in an Obama video, same for any anti-war video on here, no blocking or canning from what I've seen. Some may do it, yes, but does it speak for everyone?

i agree, the so called liberals are heavily vested in the failure of just about everything just so they can push their own socialist programs and to take away freedom in the name of doing good.i really couldnt believe it when they were actually condemning companies and individuals for making profits and living the dream.its like obama wants to take away all incentive for becoming wealthy.the government is not capable of solving social problems without the use of violence and coercion.

Well - The crazy part is that..
1. We need more companies that make 100 Billion NOT less!
2. Profit margin for ALL Large business runs 6-7% or so, with fluctuations! Stock KEEP it THAT way!
3. Most Stocks are Owned by the mutual and retirement accounts that give economic security people that will continue paying tax on it!
4. Killing the dividends defeats the whole purpose of "compounding" which allows people to get back more than they put in! It's THEIR savings THAT WILL keep them OFF S.S.!

Yes, both were used by Saddam, but none were found. Those mobile labs that Powell hyped about were nothing. There was nothing there, nothing was found, no yellowcake or uranium as they said in 2002 and 2003.

Uhh..yeah, people still decry some things the government does, and anti-Americanism has risen over there, along with terrorism. But that's just what the Justice Department says, what do they know, right?
Just how was Iraq involved with 9-11? Bush even said they weren't, Wolfowitz said they weren't in 2003, it's all bullshit. The same crap cooked up for every war; yell about patriotism, make the other side look bad, etc. Yet, do they ever focus on the historical aspects?

I guess you never saw all the protests and such from Pakistan and other Arab nations in the last 3 or 4 years. Is that recent enough? There were no WMDs found, NOTHING. Saddam even KILLED Bin Laden's lieutenant. All but one instance has been disproven to be accurate. Saddam saw al Qaeda as a threat, they hated each other over the different beliefs.
