Hi Mark! Never have I seen videos as generous as these nowadays. Just a couple of question. Somebody told me to go and spend a very high quality one light setup for the meantime (which can duplicate a 3-light setup) than to spend a low budget 3-light setup combo that could easily break. And how much power do I need for a quality studio portrait or even for outdoor shoot?
One thing I've noticed is he never mentions anything about continous lighting. I've got a continous lighting home studio I put together, which seems to simplify a lot of things. It's a new studio and I am new to doing higher quality photography work, and am left wondering if I'd get better results switching to a flash system.

A travel pack is basically a large battery. This allows you to use strobes in a place where there may not be an outlet, such as outside in a field. A generator, or power pack, must be plugged into the wall. They are both portable, but with the generator, you have to have it plugged in to work. The travel pack you can take anywhere with or without an outlet.
Just as an addendum, I would definitely avoid the expensive equipment if you're not a full-time, working photographer. If you choose right, the cheaper gear can more than suffice.
