Not to be over simplistic but the "sides or cubic surfaces of the smaller cubes are eliminated when they are held within a larger "cube" and of course a sphere is the least possible surface you can reasonably have freezing water in the house

When he was talking ice, he said the ice cubes had a lot of surface area. Actually, because of their relatively small size, wouldn't they have a SMALL amount of surface area?

no.. simple example... an ice cube say 1" cube would have 6" of surface area, toss 8 of em in the bowl you got 48" of surface,now say you had a honking single 2" cube of ice... 24" of surface area... now if you slice that 2" cube into 1" pieces what do you have? You guessed it... 8

You know I think it is correct that he gets his clothes for the show at the local thrift shop. I think I heard thats why he was wearing bowling shirts all during one season. Then Hawian shifts another season. Of course now he mixes them up.
