Like if this was your song before twilight killed it for you, and it was brutally yanked from your grasps by little teenage girls trying to relive a moment that was never theirs. Like if once this was popular you felt like you were part of a facade instead of enjoying beautiful music. Like if you had a Jezebel, and like if you want your song back. WE STRIKE AT DAWN!!!
That horrible emptiness and pain is almost too much to bear. It fades with time but you always remember it. That person will always be a part of you and the loss is like a vacuum in your gut. Sure, you go on with your life, but when it happens it feels like it will never end. This video brought back to me nights when I was there just like the poor guy in that car. I feel for you, brother. Right now, just keep putting one foot in front of the other and ride it out. All the best, John
Incredibly creative! Anyone who doesn't appreciate this has never driven around aimlessly at night with a heart broken so completely they feel like will die from pain beyond all description. The intensity is overwhelming and as a man I can only say that this work of genius is something I relate to with all my being. It has been 45 years since my Jezebel broke my heart and disappeared forever. I can still feel the hurt and remember being that young man collapsing on the curb, head in hands.
@sewoner11 thanks, i swear if i come across another crazy ass sparkly vampire and say they like I&W i will make theeemmm paaaeeeeeeeyyyyyiiighghhhhhh...
@Principe171 That is mildly ridiculous.. How you do know Jezebel was an evil person? And that those people who wrote horrid things of her were just hateful?
@Principe171 - nah, she was a scape goat for a bunch of asshole ignorant people. I can really blame them given the time. Their whole assumption was that anyone who wasn't of them is an enemy of god. It's the same shit that still gets humans to kill each other. It's just not as ubiquitous these days.
This video was very touching, reminding me of nights spent driving and hurting so much I could die over a Jezebel I once knew. She too was the "spark for all I have done." If I had a way to look back in time, the young man sitting on that curb in the rain could have been me. Thanks.
I have an idea! Why don't we take a beautiful song about the loss of innocence and enthusiasm within american culture and put it in a prom scene in a movie about teenage emo vampires...
I don't mind lame people who like shit films enjoying Sam Beam, but it's just an insult to such a genius songwriter to strip his words of their meaning!
it was about the sound and feel of the song, which fit perfectly with the scene. i dont see anything wrong with them recognizing sam beam's beautiful, calm and romantic sound. they werent "insulting" his song. also, the song can have a different interpretation for every person
@Joshhomme1 I have an idea! Let us find videos of every song made by a band that had one song in a single movie that is criticized by the majority of the populous and bitch about said movie? I don't mind lame people who troll every time they post comments on a video, but it's insulting to ignore the video/song itself and go off on a tirade.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
If you seriously only have two songs by Iron & Wine, you obviously don't understand how great his music is and definitely can't be called a "fan", let alone make a "music video" for one of the songs. Go buy all his CD's and listen to them for a year, instead of spending your time filming a crappy, overextended, indecipherable driving scene.
i get what your saying about twilight girls but they still deserve to love it they should just love it for the song itself not because it was in the movie.
This is such a great video to go along with an amazing song. Who knew something so simple as driving a car in the rain could be a work of art? Thanks for putting this up.

personally, I think the song is about the death of a girl who was taken away from the one who loved her before she should have been.

I love the song, but i dislike how they say "pray to Jezebel" because she is super evil. People think her spirit still dwells.

Does anyone else find jezebel the prettiest name ever?
Despite how evil she was :)
tink111495 2 years ago 4
@tink111495
History is written by the victors.
She was a proud, strong queen who's god (Baal) ultimately lost.
Those who had her killed also slaughtered hundreds of her priests so.. evil?
